LET ME TRY IT / GET OUT ... 7-inch, 45rpm single by THE PLANKS aka MICHEL DELAPORTE / TONY BONFILS and J. C PIERRIC (uncredited). Original French pressing on BASF label (06-15045-8), from circa 1971. Super-obscure and killer double-sider featuring the stoned B-boy funk of LET ME TRY IT and the heady delirium of GET OUT. For us, the hottest trax from the Soleil Masque French Library Lp (the session with The Boss Music / Recreation Road / Alan Mac Williams / Tipsy et al). Spaced-out psychedelic funk (once charted by DJ Supreme in an early Big Daddy magazine) with looped drum break intro / congas / phased horn section / trippy vocals and deep hammond solo midway. Superb, Head Hunters influenced bassline by Tony Bonfils. The GET OUT theme is yet another dub funk side (a little darker and more bugged-out) with Zappa-esque vocals cum spoken word rap a la Last Poets / El Chicles style exotic rhythms and fender rhodes breaks. Great for DJs. Tons of beats ;) Only ever found 2 copies in the last 15 years. Striking artwork sleeve too. Rare Library 45!!!

Our record grading: SEALED / M- / VG++ / VG+ / VG 

Vinyl is closer to shiny M- condition overall with a few hairlines and some faded, old pressing residue marks. Taken from an unplayed deadstock of records and played once for the recording of our soundclip. Some light surface noises / soft pops. The card picture sleeve is closer to M- condition overall with a touch of corner wear and ring creasing from storage. A few small wear marks to edges. Rare Library 45!!!
