MEGA RARE LP RECORDED BY PSYCHE LEGENDS THE EYES UNDER THE NAME OF THE PUPILS

ORIGINAL WING WL1150 FROM 1966

The Eyes were Barry Allchin (bass), Brian Corcoran (drums), Phil Heatley (guitar), Chris Lovegrove (lead guitar) and Terry Nolder (vocals). The band evolved out of an outfit called The Renegades, an instrumental combo, who, when they added a vocalist, became known as Gerry Hart and The Hartbeats. The name change to The Eyes came during 1964.

Probably in spite of the lack of commercial success with their early singles record company pressure led meant their third single was a cover version, The Everly Brothers’ Man With Money. The superior band original ‘You’re Too Much’ was relegated to the flipside and the writing was well and truely on the wall for the Eyes. A band with an obvious raw talent for writing strong originals succumbed to releasing cover versions. Their next single was a cover of the Beatles ‘Good Day Sunshine’ and it would be their last.

In 1967 Phil Healey quit and was replaced by Steve Valentine. The band struggled on and making their final bow when, somewhat fittingly but entirely inappropiately were approached by Philips to record a Rolling Stones tribute album. It was released under a pseudonym The Pupils Tribute To The Rolling Stones.

Lack of immediate success and some bizarre career choices coupled with the fact that, quite frankly, the Eyes looked somewhat geeky and were never destined to be pin-up poster material led to a sad premature end for London outfit.

IN VERY GOOD  CONDITION-NICE GLOSSY VINYLWITH A COUPLE OF LIGHT PLAY LINES ON EACH SIDE.

LAMINATED  FLIPBACK COVER IS VERY GOOD CONDITION, A LITTLE BIT OF EDGEWEAR, SPINE EDGE IS FINE. SLIGHT DISCOLOURATION ON THE NON LAMINATED BACK

GRADINGS

MINT                         The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality.  The cover and any extra items such as lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition.  Records advertised, as Sealed or Unplayed will be mint.

EXCELLENT             The record shows some signs of having been played, possibly with light surface marks but there will be very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD +         The record may have scuff marks and signs of some wear but will still play almost perfectly throughout, with only barely detectable crackles or pops.  A slight noise at the beginning is allowable, but the remainder must be nearly flawless.  Definitely no scratches or gouges that a touch with a dry finger can feel. The cover may only have the slightest signs of normal wear.

VERY GOOD            The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD                        The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches.  The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.
