Thank you for viewing my auctions. I sincerely appreciate the interest and kind comments made about me and my collection in the feedback section. It feels good to know that you share my passion regarding the 50's and 60's and the music that changed the world, forever. It was a blessing for me to be a teenager during the early 50's, listening, dancing and Bopping to the the best of the best.
I have one of the largest and most loyal Asian and European Clientele on Ebay and I sincerely appreciate the loyalty and interest. Over 40% of my rare albums have been shipped to the following countries: AUSTRALIA, AUSTRIA, BELGIUM, CANADA, CROATIA, DENMARK, ENGLAND, FINLAND, FRANCE, GERMANY, ISRAEL, ITALY, JAPAN, MALAYSIA, NETHERLANDS, NORWAY, RUSSIA, SLOVAKIA, SOUTH KOREA, SPAIN, SWEDEN, SWITZERLAND AND THAILAND, with the remaining being purchased in the UNITED STATES.Most of the albums you will be viewing are from my 50+ year old collection and are original issues. Sometimes I include albums given to me or purchased from friends or relatives. I do not go to swap meets, garage sales, or thrift stores. I do go to record conventions as time permits. You will be bidding for very rare, original issue and quality albums. Sometime I will list rare re-issues or later pressings. They will be stated as (re) in the listing. I use Goldmine Standard Catalog as a grading guideline and tend to be conservative.
FROM MY PERSONAL COLLECTION; The rarest Gene Chandler in my vast collection and also the most limited of all Duke of Earl Albums, you are bidding for the ultimate 1962 Duke Of Earl by Gene Chandler and recorded on the Vee Jay Label VJSR-1040 in rare Stereo. This is the Colorband Label with stamped matrix XCSV-82339-IE. The top of the back cover reads; Important notice...This is a STEREOPHONIC RECORD, a product od superior acoustical qualities engineerd under the most critical standards possible. This record should only be played at 33 1/3 R.P.M. on a STEREO PHONOGRAPH. DO NOT PLAY THIS RECORD WITH A STANDARD LP CARTRIDGE. This most prized album is valued for $800+ NM in the Goldmine Price Guide and this is close!
The 50 year old, thick Glossy Album Cover is in excellent condition and will be a super upgrade for the Music Room. Theis is no discoloration, ring wear, tape, tears, writing or wrinkles, just a 4" upper right side seam split and a small crease in the upper right corner. The liner notes are superb, with barely a hint of discoloration. The black, shiny record is stunningly beautiful and the labels MINT on one side and NEAR MINT (one spindle mark) on the other side. I inspected the rarest of records under a 200 watt light and there were no scratches or groove lines, just a few light surface lines/scuffs/paper cuts that did not affect a near mint listening experience. I also played the record just prior to listing and there were no skips, sticks, loud pops or noisy hisses. A near mint listening experience.
The songs include; Side 1, Duke Of Earl, Stand By Me, Festival Of Love, Daddy's Home, I Wake Up Crying, Turn On Your Love Light. Side 2, Nite Owl, I'll Follow You, Big Lie, Kissin' In The Kitchen, So Many Ways, Lonely Island.
A rare, hard to find and most desired collectible. Based on the Goldmine Guide, the Album Cover is graded VG++, the quality of the listening experience NM and record's appearance NM-. There is no reserve.
GRADING GUIDELINES FROM THE GOLDMINE PRICE GUIDE!
(NM or NM-) NM records are shiny with no visible defects such as writing, stickers or needle marks on the labels. The album cover should have no creases, folds, seam splits or any signs of human handling. It also will have no ring wear.
(VG+) or (Excellent) May show some slight signs of wear, including light scuffs or very light scratches that do not affect the listening experience. Slight warps that do not affect the sound are OK. Minor signs of handling are OK. The cover might be marred by a cutout marking, small hole punch, a cut in the spine or a promotional stamp and even a tiny bit of ring wear.
(VG) Have more obvious flaws such as lack of gloss, groove wear, light scratches and needle marks. When played there will be surface noise that will not overpower the music overall. Noise in the passages, between songs is common. The cover may have minor seam splits, writing, tape, stickers, ring wear and scuffs.
(VG-) Is just a compounding of the VG category. Many obvious flaws but if the record is rare, may very well be worthwhile. I usually do not list records lower than the above grades.
Remember, when you are bidding, most of these records are usually 50+ years old and have been out of print for a very long time. When you consider that, damage, loss, and normal use or wear has reduced the market to the point that few of these wonderful treasures are even available today.
