Thank you for viewing my auctions. Most of the albums you will be viewing are from my 50+ year old collection and are original issues. Sometimes I include albums given to me or purchased from friends or relatives. I do not go to swap meets, garage sales, or thrift stores. I do go to record conventions as time permits. You will be bidding for very rare, original issue and quality albums. Sometime I will list rare re-issues or later pressings. They will be stated as (re) in the listing. I use Goldmine Standard Catalog as a grading guideline and tend to get somewhat conservative in my approach.

All records are played through prior to listing for accurate grading.

(NM or NM-) NM records are shiny with no visible defects such as writing, stickers or needle marks on the labels. The album cover should have no creases, folds, seam splits or any signs of human handling. It also will have no ring wear.

(VG+) or (Excellent) May show some slight signs of wear, including light scuffs or very light scratches that do not affect the listening experience. Slight warps that do not affect the sound are OK. Minor signs of handling are OK. The cover might be marred by a cutout marking, small hole punch, a cut in the spine or a promotional stamp and even a tiny bit of ring wear.

(VG) Have more obvious flaws such as lack of gloss, groove wear, light scratches and needle marks. When played there will be surface noise that will not overpower the music overall. Noise in the passages, between songs is common. The cover may have minor seam splits, writing, tape, stickers, ring wear and scuffs.

(VG-) Is just a compounding of the VG category. Many obvious flaws but if the record is rare, may very well be worthwhile. I do not usually list records lower the above grades.

Remember, when you are bidding, most of these records are usually 50+ years old and have been out of print for a very long time. When you consider that, damage, loss, and normal use or wear has reduced the market to the point that few of these wonderful treasures are even available today.

From my personal collection; Some of you who have called or emailed me about my collection, are aware that I live fairly close to Canada and this album was purchased there. It is also one of my prized albums, Please Mr. Postman, the Marvelettes very first album and recorded in 1961 on the Tamla label TML-228 in High Fidelity. The group consisted of Gladys Horton, Katherine Anderson, Georgeanna Tillman, Juanita Cowart and Wanda Young. This album with the white label is valued at $600+ in the Goldmine book. This is the black label with the silver globe and print. It's value? The cover and recordings were done by Motown in Detroit, Michigan but distributed by London Records of Canada LTD. This is a mega rare pressing. The thick album cover is super clean, as you can tell by the pictures. There is no ring wear, writing, discoloration, scuffs or tears, front or back. This cover has a lip inside where they are glued together at the factory. I did not have the right kind of glue that would hold the upper seam together so I used three small pieces of matching tape to protect the record. It is clean, neat and not too easy to see. There is also a small hole in the upper right side. The shiny record has maintained it rich, glossy look and the labels are clean, showing only light spindle marks. I inspected the record under the light and felt two very small feelable scratches on the first song on side 1, but did not affect or impact the pleasing listening experience. There are no scuffs or grooves, just surface and line marks from normal use. I also played the record just prior to listing and there were no sticks or skips, just some pops and hisses expected from normal use, many of those between some of the songs. The listening experience was just wonderful as Motown is famous for its strong recordings and this is one of them. The songs include: Side 1, Angel, I Want A Guy, Please Mr. Postman, So Long Baby, I Know How It Feels. Side 2, Way Over There, Happy days, You Don't Want Me Any More, All The Love I Got, I Know How It Feels, I Apologize. This is a real find for the right collector. It deserves a good home, that's for sure. Based on the Goldmine guide, the album is graded VG++ and the record VG++. There is no reserve.
