I do hope that doggy's for sale IT IS NOT TOTALLY CLEAR WHY THIS RECORD IS REPORTED TO HAVE REACHED NUMBER ONE IN THE CHART IN THE GUINNESS HIT BOOK OF SINGLES - AS IT IS INCREDIBLY DIFFICULT TO FIND!! SOME PEOPLE SAY IT WAS BECAUSE IT WAS SOLD MAINLY TO CHILDREN AND THAT THEY MISTREATED THEM AND MOST OF THE COPIES HAVE BEEN BROKEN OR LOST!
PERSONALLY, I DON'T BELIEVE IT EVER REALLY DID GET TO NUMBER ONE!! IN THOSE EARLY DAYS OF THE CHARTS, THE SAMPLING METHODS WERE VERY POOR - WITH ONLY A HANDFUL OF SHOPS BEING CHECKED FOR THEIR SALES FIGURES - IT ONLY NEEDED A LOCAL RUN ON THE RECORD TO DRAMATICALLY SKEW THE CHART POSITIONS...
STILL - THE BOOK SAYS IT GOT TO NUMBER ONE - SO ITS GOT TO BE TRUE - RIGHT!!!
SO I WONDER WHY IT IS SO RARE???
THIS COPY IS RATED AS Vg+ - IT HAS NO DEEP SCRATCHES - BUT HAS A DULL PATCH ON THE LABEL (PROBABLY WHERE A TAX STICKER OR A PRICE STICKER HAS BEEN PREVIOUSLY REMOVED), AND THERE ARE SOME LIGHT SCUFFS/DULL MARKS ON THE SURFACE OF THE RECORD. HOWEVER, OVERALL THE RECORD PLAYS REALLY WELL WITH A GOOD STRONG SOUND.
