Description

THE RATS “Gotta See My Baby Every Day” Aussie FESTIVAL 7”, killer R&B freakbeat

The Rats – Gotta See My Baby Every Day 7” (orig. Australia Festival MONO FK-1078)

Australian Release date: August 1965 (UK Release date: June 1965).  Recording dates: September 1964 (A-side) / April 1965 (B-side).

On offer here is a VERY RARE original Australian FESTIVAL issue of “Gotta See My Baby Every Day” 7” single by Hull band THE RATS.  The A-side is an appealing R&B number with a sound that would evolve into freakbeat.  On a collector’s note the group’s debut ‘one-sided’ 45 (which I do not own!), a cover of Willie Dixon’s “Spoonful”, was issued on the highly collectable Surrey-based OAK label.
