CONDITION : E+ looks new but is noisy by nature
OK, it was an interesting idea, but just the totally wrong time to do it. 1933: the depths of the depression, and RCA tries to punch up record sales by introducing a line of picture records. You might have seen pictures of a few of these, such as the famous Jimmie Rodgers platter or that one by Paul Whiteman, but did you know that they made at least 15 ten-inch picture platers. Add to that a few 7-inch children's records, and another half dozen 12-in discs and that's quite a stack.
Still, they never, ever, turn up.
This one is not even mentioned in the source where I found a meager discography of those items, and it's the first half of a stoic reading of the Edgar Allan Poe work 'The Raven.' This is parts 1 & 2, and there was also another platter that had the conclusion on it. As you can see, it's got a different image on each side, each more stirring than the last.
While this appears LIKE NEW, it seems that Victor hadn't quite worked out how to make a quiet playing surface without the use of their slippery black compounds, so this clear surface is pretty noisy. How do we grade this, by looks, or by sound?
