Description
Recorded in 1970-1971 as an ‘advertisement’ intended to showcase the group, and sent to Warner Bros Records in the Spring of 1971, ‘The W***** B*** Album’ has long been a cornerstone of The Resident’s mythology – not least because the returned tape, addressed to ‘The Residents….’ gave the then-nameless collective their moniker.
Long-forgotten by The Residents themselves until recently rediscovered as part of their ongoing archival excavations, the master tape and artwork has been provided by the group without explanation or comment and is presented here unaltered.
For any fan of The Residents, underground music of the 1970s, home recording or the downright ridiculous, this is carefree, boundary free and experimental music at its best, as produced by a collective of no discernible talent who, despite all indications and expectations, have endured for almost half a century.
