Original 1967 U.S. press of LP on Remnant label ( #BBA-3571)
THE RISING STORM titled " Calm Before...."
cited by rock and roll historian Richie Unterberger in Allmusic as being "one of the rarest and most respected garage band albums".
Unterberger devoted a chapter of his 1998 book, Unknown Legends of Rock 'n' Roll, to the Rising Storm.
Limited tiny pressing of only 500 copies
CONDITION: This is a deep groove heavy 60s pressing & plays very well ~ here's some specific details :
cover: G / VG- / VG
wear/soiling ~ wear/fray / tiny bumps / paper crackling to edges & corners ~ seams split at opening edge ( top & bottom)
( bottom edge is in addition to ~ or despite of ~ small thin 'magic tape' that's been applied )
~ name written on front , back & A side label ~ see pix
vinyl: VG- / VG
groovewear & several small lite marks & multiple multi-track surface scratches & scuffs ~ all are superficial
save for a grouping of 3 tiny scratches on intro/ beginning of Side 1 Track 4 + 1 small scratch on Side 2 track 5
~ both are a bit deeper & can be felt with fingertips ~ both make lite multiple clicks ~ noticeable, but not overwhelming ~
all else is superficial & plays with a few individual soft lite clicks
occasional lite low level surface noise / soft surface crackle in spots ~ noticeable mostly on intro / extro , between tracks
but litely in the background during some of the quieter moments of play, too

hardcore fans of unknown 60s psych / garage all search for that taste of magic once committed to rare grooves of vinyl,
a glimpse into an era when any rock combo with a few fans could get enough studio time to immortalize a set of their wildest sounds,
and with Calm Before.., you get the full dosage.
Typically, impossibly rare albums tend to get seriously over-hyped, but not so in this case.
Collectors don’t go nuts over this one because it’s so rare, it’s because it’s so good!
The Rising Storm rocks with the controlled frenzy of The Remains ~ but manage to layer in a thin film of psychedelia.
the contemplative original numbers are the real gems on this record.
