Description

TITLE/ARTIST: Here is one of the rarest, most collectible and highest desired LPs I have ever owned - and I'm now placing it up for sale in this auction. The group was known as The Robins from the late '40's thru the '50's, and this LP - their 1st and last - was released in 1958 and has become highly sought after ever since. The group features the late Carl Gardner, who went on to perform for all his remaining years with The Coasters - and, as a throw in, I've even included a local newspaper's article detailing his career at the time of his unfortunate death. It is yet another album in nice overall condition considering what it is - especially the vinyl. This album is on the original - and rather obscure - Whippet Label, and is cleverly entitled, "Rock and Roll Featuring The Robins" (using a rock, a hardroll, and two robins as an illustrated cover design). The album includes ten (10) songs of theirs from back then - all in MONO and all in very nice shape (see the pictures above for all of the song titles). LABEL INFO: This original, red and white, Whippet Label (WLP 703) is nearly perfect with no issues at all - I don't even see too many spindle lines around the center circle, which indicates to me that it wasn't played all that much. VINYL INFO: Likewise, the vinyl is also super shiny, clean, and nice with again, nothing in serious need of any mention - although there are some real light surface/paper lines in a few places on either side - but you need to look pretty closely in the correct kind of light to really notice them. JACKET INFO: Finally, the jacket is primarily good, but certainly not great! There are signs of "aging" on the backside, a very light "scratch line" down the middle of the front side, and some serious seam split damage along the vertical spine, as well as a less serious split along the very top seam which was scotch taped by a previous owner. I have attempted to show the worst of these issues in the pictures above, but feel free to write me if you think you need more info than what is shown. Thank you! INTERESTING FACTS: The value of this LP goes without saying, but I'm offering it here with no minimum reserve at all, so please have at it. It might not be as clean and perfect as other LPs I sell, but it is what it is - SUPER RARE!! Please continue to check this site for more great conditioned "oldies" from my personal collection in the weeks and months ahead as my entire personal collection will be up for bids. Many of these still to be listed records are rare and hard to find, and most all of them are in near mint shape. So again, please bookmark my site and check it out from time to time. GOOD LUCK BIDDING!! If anyone ever needs more info than what is listed, please email me. I will respond! POSTAGE/HANDLING CHARGES: In the United States, the buyer agrees to pay $5.00 (Media Mail with Delivery Confirmation) for the first LP purchased, and then just $1.00 per LP after that-----so, buy in quantity and save. These are U.S. rates only, and all foreign winners will have to await an email me for their exact costs, although I will send a detailed invoice as soon as the auction is over---but, there too, it is cheaper to send multiple pieces. The charges for overseas are listed in the shipping category below--$23.00 for the 1st LP and then just $4.00 per LP after that. PLEASE NOTE: I take a great deal of pride in packaging all my mailings both safely and securely. However, I cannot be responsible for records that are lost or damaged by either US or overseas Postal Services. But, for additional fees, I will gladly ship the packages Priority Mail and/or add insurance! Please email me with either, or both, requests if this is of interest to you. Also, please continue to check out "rogersrecords" on ebay for future collectible records of all types. There are many more to come! browser does not support JavaScript.
