Over the coming months I will be listing a remarkable record collection for auction on ebay. This collection belonged to my friend Brian, one of the most discerning record collectors I have ever known. Brian started buying records in 1966 when he was a teenager. His infatuation for vinyl developed into a career and he eventually ended up working for RCA records and CBS/Sony records as a disc mastering engineer from 1977 to 1989. Brian’s not with us anymore, and I’m making good on my promise to him to sell his records in lovingly-prepared auctions which reflect the love he had for his vast LP collection. The proceeds are going to his family.

Brian’s collection is the kind that rarely comes up for sale. He had great taste in music and collected vinyl seriously for 40 years, taking superb care of his collection. To see all of Brian’s records that I currently have listed, click here.

I grade records conservatively, to ensure your satisfaction as the buyer. All LP’s will be shipped promptly in reinforced record-mailing boxes. The Rolling Stones released their great 1966 LP in two formats and this is the rare mono edition from the UK with the UK track listing.

It has the distinction of being one of the hardest Stones records to find in better than acceptable condition as there is in excess of 50 minutes on this LP and it is cut lower than others; in other words, any scratch makes a difference on these copies…and this one plays without the usual abundance of noise most others have – clean and clear. There are a handful of surface marks but these do not mar the listening experience. I’ve never seen an Aftermath in nicer shape!

The cover is in excellent condition with a bit of the Clarifoil lifting near the spine, and a hint of ringwear on the front. There are a handful of pencil notes beside the tracklist on the back cover. Again this is one hard record to find in good shape due to the flimsy construction cardboard Decca used in making the covers.

At this time in writing there are no officially available mono mix of this record on any format available for Stones fans to enjoy and this is a pity as it renders the stereo mix sounding like The Carpenters by comparison…bass is deeper, guitars are more present and Mick doesn’t sound like he’s emoting from the vocal booth as the stereo (nice as it is) is WAY too polite!

This is the sound of The Rolling Stones as they embarked upon the darker portion of their career…Altamont would be 3 years later but all of that mayhem begins with this LP – Aftermath.

All records are cleaned on a VPI 16.5 and are ready to play – records are never playgraded until they are cleaned properly – that way an accurate grading can occur. All records are placed in new Nitty Gritty sleeves and if there is an original sleeve present it is contained in the package for completeness.
