Description
The Rolling Stones 'Beggars Banquet' 1968 UK original vinyl album on the 'unboxed' Decca blue label, catalogue number SKL 4955 (stereo)
The numbers and letters stamped on the vinyl are:- Side 1: XZAL-8476-2K 1 BC Side 2: XZAL-8477-1K 1 BK
This is a heavy vinyl and it is not warped. When viewed under a bright light I can see a scattering of light surface scratches on both sides - most are caused by bag movement, but there are also some small scuffs and stylus scratches. I cannot feel any of them with light fingertip touch. The record has obviously been played from time to time, but the surfaces still look bright and there is no dulling. The record plays very clearly, but there is a little crackle and a few light ticks - nothing that spoils the enjoyment of this great record, but this is a players' record for those who are satisfied with a decent 'very good+' grade. There are no sticks, no skips, no jumps, and although the audio is not perfectly clean, the sound quality maintains a high standard.
The track titles can be seen on the label photographs. The labels have a fair amount of light spindle lines, no writing, no damage.
The cover is a gatefold type. It is coated with a laminate on the front, spine and back. The front surface is in good shape with a few small creases at the edges, two thumb creases near the open edge and also a semi circular faint stain at the open edge which is not very easy to see. The back is in similar condition to the front, but the four small creases next to the spine are a little more noticeable and there is a slight impression of the outside edge of the record. The corners have some rub wear at the tips and the open edge has a little feathering. The centre piece is excellent, with just a little light surface rub wear.
The spine shows signs of wear and has been a little flattened - the scuffing at the top has rubbed off some of the title, but all the rest of the text is there, although it's not fully readable because it has been squashed.
The inner sleeve is an original Decca - poly-lined and in very good condition, no seam splits, no tears, no damage. I have checked the Record Collector grading system and I would say that the gatefold is 'very good+', the record is visually 'very good+' and the audio is 'very good+'
I have described this as carefully and honestly as possible, but it is a no return item so please bid accordingly.
It will be packed in a strong record mailing box with two pieces of card inside for further protection.
