THE ROLLING STONES, BEGGARS BANQUET UK 1968 STEREO LP, SECOND PRESS DECCA BOXED LABELS, GATEFOLD SLEEVE SKL.4955, 4K/1K MATRICES EARLY PRESS NEW POLYLINED INNER SLEEVE GATEFOLD SLEEVE: EX VINYL: EX to EX+
I am selling a complete early press of the classic Stones album ‘Beggars Banquet’ from 1968. Heavy high quality vinyl pressing, the pressings from the late 1970s were lighter, and the sound quality is excellent throughout. The matrices show that this is an early press. The earliest stereo UK pressing (which immediately followed the first mono pressings) had blue DECCA unboxed labels which were superseded by the smaller, boxed labels I would say this is a pressing circa 1970-72 it’s a lovely copy in excellent condition for its age.
Play graded all the way through and both sides played fantastically well with NO skips or jumps and minimal background noise. I have graded both sides EX, excellent playback NO nasty surface marks clearly visible on all sides, a very nice listen. A few ticks in the quieter parts of the music and in the run-ins which do not overpower the music. To summarise, the record plays brilliantly and a play grade of at least EX or EX+better.
The record has been wet cleaned before listing on here.
The four labels are Excellent with one or two very slight spindle trails visible which do not in any way detract from the overall appearance of the labels. NO WRITING OR OTHER VISIBLE MARKS PRESENT.
The outer sleeve is in an EX condition, no nasty marks, no major wear or rips/tears. Just a slight Nick on the bottom corner. The spine is EX, clearly legible and no wear noticeable.
10 tracks including SYMPATHY FOR THE DEVIL and STREET FIGHTING MAN.
Overall this is a nice copy of a classic Stones album which deserves a place in any serious record collection.
