THE ROLLING STONES
“EL BANQUETE DE LOS MENDIGOS”
(BEGGAR’S BANQUET)
WOW!! WOW!! WOW!!! MEGARARE and hard-to-find original MONO London “ffrr” Records 2nd pressing released in Chile in 1967 by Industrias Eléctricas Y Musicales Odeon , S.A. (Odeon Records), licensed from London Records Inc., USA, catalog number LLC-38574, matrix numbers: XARL-8477-2A at 6 o’clock and CD at 10 in Side 1 and XARL-8476-6A at 6 o’clock and 1B at 9 in Side 2, with YELLOW LONDON “ffrr” LABELS!!! This indicated a second pressing Yes Sirs, ANOTHER BITCHIN FIND!!! An authentic pressing of “Beggar’s Bnaquet” released in Chile!!!
“BEGGARS BANQUET” was originally released in 1968 but we had to wait some months to see this album released here in Chile in 1969 and like in most of the cases of that period, we got this album with an UNIQUE COVER!!! And not only that, we also got in Chile an UNIQUE PICTURE SLEEVE!!! The cover is unlaminated and is the typical Chilean cover made of 2 single sheets of paper attached (not glued) to a thin cardboards kept all together for an outer plastic bag which’s part of the cover. If you are a Rolling Stones fan and/or collector you already know this release is the HOLY GRAIL of the “Beggars Banquet” editions worldwide!!! Paper is very fragile, but in this case it’s in very good condition, see the pictures. In Chile, for some reason we don’t know, they decided to use the picture of the inside of original gatefold cover for front and back cover. That’s only fact makes this record one of the rarest editions released here in Chile and a MUST for the Rolling Stones collectors. In front cover is the title in Spanish only at top, the name of the band is in the middle and at bottom left corner is written “R.S.V.P” and at right corner is the London Records logo. In back cover it’s the London Records logo with catalog number at top right corner, information about Chilean companies at bottom left corner and the tracklist at the right side. About the tracklist, it’s written only in Spanish with no information additional and only 9 tracks!!! Yes, in this megarare press, only in back cover, they omitted the song “Stray Cat Blues”, but in label is written and of course the song plays in the record. The title is written in Spanish but translated to English, the same for songs.
Aside from a small ding on the edge of the record which does not affect play...I'd grade the vinyl a VG plus with a few faint scratchs and a light scuff or two.
The cover being very unusual with its "bag" and the two cards that makke up the cover...I'd give that a solid VG with a couple of small holes in the bag and wear on the spine.
This is a GREAT collectible while you wait to score a mint copy..which you probably wont. SO GET THIS ONE.
Thanks!
