Description

Important General Information

This and upcoming auctions of vintage LPs, EPs and select 45s are a continuation of my earlier offerings of  2001.  Most of the pieces are from my personal collection of over 45 years of accumulation.  The music genres are largely rock, psych, garage, blues and progressive material. Some albums retain their original shrink wrap.  Most contain any and all inserts that were used in packaging and have their original inner sleeves.

The material is graded conservatively using Jerry Osborn’s grading criteria, with one exception.  I  play grade each piece ( except 45s ) in addition to visually grading the items under proper lighting.  Each album offered has been converted to digital format and put into my library.  That is why I’ve play graded each one.  I use high end audio equipment while doing the conversions.  The amplifier is a Nakamichi Receiver 3,  the turntable is a Denon DP-45F and the cartridge used is a Audiotecnica Dual Moving Magnetic unit.  It tracks at .75 grams of pressure to the vinyl.

GRADING:   BY COVER/SLEEVE FIRST, THEN VINYL. (EG. NM/VG+ )

ARTIST:   The Rolling Stones

TITLE:  England's Newest Hitmakers

LABEL:  London LL3375 Mono from England

RELEASE DATE:  1964

COMMENTS:

The Rolling Stones is their debut album released in the UK in April 1964. The US edition of the LP, with a slightly different track list, came out the following month, under the title England's Newest Hit Makers. The Rolling Stones was originally released by Decca Records in the UK, while the US England's Newest Hitmakers appeared on the London Records label". Mick Jagger and Keith Richards (whose professional name until 1978 omitted the s in his surname) were very much fledging songwriters during early 1964, contributing only one original composition to the album. Two numbers are credited to "Nanker Phelge" - a pseudonym the band used for group compositions from 1963 to 1965. The majority of the tracks reflect the band's love for authentic R&B material.

CONDITION:

Here is a set of albums from the Stones that are especially collectible, being both original and mono recordings.  The first 13 US releases are being made available for the first time for this week's auctions.  The debut release shown above, is one of the many variations of those early recordings.  All of the mono releases are on heavier vinyl.  To start things off, this is the correct, first issue album jacket which is in near mint minus condition.  It does not have the photo included. The jacket only has some moderate toning on the white areas to show its age.  The seams and the spine are exceptional.  There is no wear to be found on the cover.  It has it's correct, red mono sleeve.  The vinyl playgrades an honest strong VG+.  It has strong lustre and minimal light paper scuffs.  The vinyl is strong but does sport a few surface scratches.  The playback is clear and strong!  Over-all: NM-/VG++
