Hello and welcome to one of my auctions! I am a record collector for over 15 years now and I think it’s about time to sell a couple records to make some room and pass it on to another collector. This week’s auctions feature my Beatles, Beatles – related and Rolling Stones records that are form my own personal collection, so here we go!
On offer, a very rare 1964 HOLLAND ONLY MONO pressing of The Rolling Stones Greatest Hits album on the BLUE UNBOXED Decca label, cat. no. DU 175 000.
The record is in VG condition, there are many non-sounding hairlines and a thin sounding scratch on side 2. I have test played this record and plays through very well, just some light background crackles in between the tracks and the occasional pops. Considering this, the damage looks worse than it actually is. It’s also a common fact that these older Dutch pressings, just like their U.K. counterparts, can take a lot of damage without deteriorating the sound quality. The labels are in VG+ condition, there are many spindle marks and a little wear along the spindle holes on side 1.
The cover is in VG condition as well, the front has a small crease in the bottom section, there is a small spine split of approx. 3 centimetres and on the back there is a big shop sticker, the previous owner’s name and it is slightly discoloured (age browning). Although there is some damage, this cover looks still presentable to me.
This is a very rare Dutch only STEREO copy of the Rolling Stones’ Greatest Hits album from 1964. This album was released just after their debut album (that’s why The Rolling Stones No. 2 is called No. 3 in Holland) and features all singles A and B sides released up to August 1964 in The Netherlands. Although the record and cover certainly have had a life, the record still sounds great. This is your chance to obtain one of the first, if not THE first, ever Rolling Stones compilations. This record is a real must have for all Rolling Stones fans and Rolling Stones collectors! Happy Bidding!
