The Rolling Stones : It's Only Rock 'n' Roll A2/B2

This first pressing plays to a fantastic standard with no interference at all.  With only a small number of dust ticks / static ticks on a couple of tracks this is as close to perfect clarity that you find.  A FINAL UPGRADE album for sure.  Not bad for nearly 50 years old!

The vinyl is visually stunning with no marking etc and is from the same previous owner as per the other Stones' records that I am selling.  They are all in superb condition!

The cover is also in superb condition with no obvious wear and the original inner is 'as new' without doubt.

Visual grading

The vinyl is in beautiful condition and has that immaculate jet-black glossy finish of an unplayed vinyl.  It has been so well preserved and indeed there is no spindle wear at all.  The surfaces are so clean and there are no marks or scratches and I could only find a couple of very faint and barely visible sleeve removal hairlines.  The run out grooves and labels are also supremely clean.  The record does have one very minor 'kink' on one edge but it is not a warp and does not affect how it plays.

Play grading

'If You Can't Rock Me' plays with stunning clarity and power throughout and has no interference at all.  Immediately you can tell this has hardly been played and the warmth and depth of the audio is so impressive.  A Mint start to the album.

'Ain't Too Proud To Beg' also plays with supreme quality and I only heard a couple of very ticks but they are so 'buried' in the music they are easily missed.  Mint-

'It's Only Rock 'n' Roll (But I Like It) plays with superb power from the first groove to the last.  As per the previous two tracks the clarity is exceptional and there is no 'background' here at all.  A classic 'high octane' track and it does not disappoint!  It is 'as new' there is no other way to describe it.  Mint

The acoustic intro on 'Till The Next Goodbye' has barely any static and as Jagger's vocal begins the audio is perfect.  From that point on the clarity is outstanding with only a handful of minor static ticks which are barely audible.  In fact the more you get into the track the more impressive it is!  I will say Near Mint although I am sure many would grade higher!

'Time Waits For No One' just has 3/4 very light static ticks on the intro and it then plays beautifully with no intrusion.  I've played it twice now and this truly is a spectacular version!  It plays so clearly and the warmth and depth of the audio is STUNNING.  The long instrumental including the solo is so good and I've never heard it plays so well.  Even the final percussive section has only a couple of light ticks.  A superb Mint- end to the side.

'Luxury' plays with perfect precision from start to finish with, you guessed it, no interference.  Mint

The intro on 'Dance Little Sister' is 'as new' and it continues in the same way.  The audio is so deep and rich with a clarity that cannot be faulted and it does make you think has this been played before!  Another Mint track.

'If You Really Want To Be My Friend' has just a minimal touch of totally non-intrusive static on the intro and thereafter plays with great clarity and warmth.  There is the odd very light static tick here and there but they are obviously very much in the background and do not intrude on the quality of the listen.  Some would argue it should not be downgraded as this is to be expected with vinyl even if it hasn't been played before.  I will grade as Near Mint to be safe.  No clicks or pops!

'Short And Curlies' has 3/4 dust ticks on the intro and is then 'as new' for the remainder.  A stunning Mint version.

'Fingerprint File' ends the album with perfect clarity.  There is perhaps just a minimal amount of inner groove distortion but this is not intrusive.  It plays with very impressive depth throughout and the very quiet end section has no 'background' at all.  Mint-

In summary this first pressing plays to a wonderful standard with not one single click or pop, no crackle and barely any static.  The clarity and definition of the audio is stunning and as stated this has clearly hardly ever been on a turntable, perhaps never!  Not one of their classic albums I guess but it nonetheless will fit perfectly into any near mint / mint collection.

The Cover

The cover is so close to being in perfect condition.  The edges have no wear, the spine is pristine and there is no obvious corner wear either.  The opening edge is in superb shape and the front and back cover are totally unmarked.  The only wear (if you can call it that) are 4/5 faint creases around the edges but it is pretty much 'as new'.  A stunning example.

The labels have no marking or writing and no spindle wear either.
