The Rolling Stones : Let It Bleed 1W / 4W Boxed Stereo Press + Poster

This early boxed stereo pressing plays with stunning quality on both sides and incredibly there is no interference.  As always I have played every track in full and only the title track has 2/3 seconds of light static on the intro and a couple of other minor statics but that hardly qualifies as interference!  The clarity, depth and power of the audio is sensational and you would be hard pressed to find a better version.  I know it's often said the original monos have a greater depth but the depth and warmth on this 1W/4W pressing is superb.  There are so many classics here of course but 'You Can't Always Get What You Want' really does stand out.  I have graded it as ranging between Near Mint and Mint but even that may be a little harsh!  The vinyl itself is stunning which will come as no surprise.

The cover is in superb condition and because this is a relatively early pressing it still has the mono / stereo indicator hole on the back.  There is no Rolling Stones sticker on the front however.

The original poster is included and is as good as new!  The poly-lined blue stereo inner is dated 10-69 and is in excellent shape but it's not the one with all the credits so may not be original, unless some were issued without it.

An interesting anomaly with the labels.  S1 has just GEMA below the BIEM / NCB box and the publishing credits are next to each track.  On S2 it has GEMA and Mirage Music below the BIEM / NCB box and no credit after each track.

Visual description

The vinyl is in lovely condition and still has a fine glossy sheen with no marks or scratches.  Looking under a bright light I can only see a small number of faint superficial hairlines.  There is no groove or surface wear and the run outs have only a couple of faint marks on them.  The boxed Decca labels are superb with very little spindle wear.

Play grading

The quiet intro on 'Gimmie Shelter' plays with exceptional clarity and as the volume picks up the audio is just as strong and clear.  The same can be said for the opening vocal section which just could not play any better.  Merry Clayton of course adds so much to this classic and her contribution is stunning here.  The mid instrumental concluding with Clayton's solo vocal is incredible and the remainder is of the same exact standard.  I cannot emphasise enough just how immaculate this version is, the depth and power on the audio is STUNNING, and it has to grade as Mint

With complete silence in the dead wax the delicate intro on 'Love In Vain' has only 2/3 very quiet statics and Jagger's opening vocal is clarity personified!  There is no intrusion and as Watts comes in there is no drop in quality.  What I really notice on this version is just how clean and precise the notes are, it plays 'as new'.  Cooder's mandolin section is a prime example of that.  There is just one mega light static right after but the final vocal / instrumental / fade out then played with sublime clarity and warmth.  Mint-

'Country Honk' keeps up the standard and plays with impeccable precision through every vocal and instrumental section.  It is Mint all the way.

Richards' bass intro on 'Live With Me' is superb, it is so strong and deep, and the first vocal has no intrusion either.  It continues in the same precise way with a sonic quality that is off the scale.  You want it to play with that familiar raw Stones power with no 'muddiness' to the sound and no distortion either and it does not disappoint!  The sax break is incredible and the rest of this classic has no interference - the end instrumental is mind-blowingly powerful!  Another Mint track.

The intro on 'Let It Bleed' has 2/3 seconds of light static right at the start and a couple of minor static ticks a little further in.  The opening vocal section plays perfectly and it proceeds in much the same way.  There is perhaps just a minimal amount of inner groove distortion but yes it's very very minimal and there are no ticks, clicks or pops.  I'm just being honest as always with my grading because I will mention any background even if minor and totally non-intrusive.  It still plays damn well and Near Mint- is about right.

'Midnight Rambler' is phenomenal!  From the intro, the opening vocal, the concluding section and everything in between the clarity and definition of the audio could hardly be any more impressive.  The Don't do that mid vocal is a case point - the clarity and depth is 'as new' for sure and the quiet section that follows is close to that with only a handful of minor statics.  Nothing intrusive at all.  The end vocal again shows just how well this vinyl has been cared for - it plays with stunning power I cannot fault it.  Jagger at his vitriolic raw best.  Mint-

The gentle intro on 'You Got The Silver' is perfect and Richards' opening vocal is more or less the same with only a couple of barely audible statics.  From then on it plays with wonderful clarity... no surprise there!  There is no background static and Mint- is again richly deserved.

The intro on 'Monkey Man' plays with sublime clarity as does the rest of the track!  I won't prevaricate this is the definitive version as it plays with stunning precision through every section.  The mid instrumental for example - sheer musical poetry!  Mint all day long including the fade out.

The London Bach Choir intro on 'You Can't Always Get What You Want' plays beautifully with no intrusion and the first acoustic passage is just as clean as is Jagger's opening vocal.  This high end level continues as the pace picks up and the clarity of sound for a final track is superb.  I'm at the halfway point and so far there has been no inner groove distortion and the next Choir vocal is just as clear.  The second half plays with great clarity and definition and if there is any distortion well it's barely noticeable.  You miss nothing, you can easily hear Al Kooper's piano and where the Choir vocal builds and builds at the end the audio is spectacular!  Instrumentally it is so strong also and the fade out has only a couple of minor dull ticks right at the end.  I will say this classic ranges between Near Mint and Mint but certainly a lot more of the latter.

The Cover, Poster & Inner Sleeve

The cover is in superb condition with very little shelf wear.  The edges and spine have no wear and the corners are so clean also.  The opening edge has barely any handling wear but is slightly 'upturned' at each end.  The laminated front cover is close to perfect with one faint crease near the top edge and a couple of minor 'specks'.  The back cover is not laminated and yet remains in fantastic shape with barely any marking and the mono / stereo indicator hole is perfect.  A fine example overall.

The poster is stunning and 'as new' is a fair description.  The poly-lined stereo inner (dated 10-69) is in excellent condition with no side splits or tears and barely any marking.  It has some creasing mainly in the bottom two corners.

I will only send items items worldwide via tracked shipping.  This provides 'peace of mind' in case of loss or damage.  The shipping costs are shown below and combined shipping is always offered.  Any over-payment will always be refunded.

The Royal Mail only insure up to a value of £250 so if an item sells for more it may be wise to use a courier service (e.g. Parcelforce or DPD).  An extra insurance premium will be required but I will not know the exact amount until the final sale price is known.  Because of this I will sometimes have to estimate the cost and this will be shown in the listing.  Please wait for the invoice before making payment and if you have any questions please feel free to ask.  Many thanks.

All vinyls are packaged in strong over-sized custom made mailers with plenty of extra cardboard protection.  They are placed inside separate poly-lined inners outside the cover so as to avoid seam splits in transit and then placed inside a PVC sleeve to provide even more protection.  I pride myself on my high quality packaging as my feed confirms and if any customer has any specific requirements I am more than happy to help.

The mailers I use cost £1.00 each and I will use anything between 3-5 cardboard stiffeners which cost approx £0.18 each.  There is also the cost of the poly-lined inner and PVC sleeve to consider, it all adds up!  Not forgetting that eBay take 10% of the shipping fee also!!
