Description

Here is a copy of The Rolling Stones No. 2 by The Rolling Stones (LK 4661) of 1965. This is the earliest pressing of this LP you can find, with 1A matrices on both sides of the vinyl and flipback sleeve with the withdrawn 'blind man' text. However, it is not quite perfect.

The front laminated sleeve suffers from some creasing, though the edges are straight and true and the opening edge fine and unfeathered. The unlaminated rear is perhaps not quite as Persil white as it would originally have been, but there are no rips or unwanted scrawl while the flipback near the bottom of the pinched end spine has at some time been creased back, although it could carefully be stuck back as nothing is missing. This first pressing front laminated flipback sleeve grades VG-.

Although at first sight this disc (the matrices are XARL-6619-1A and XARL-6620-1A) looks fine, when viewed under halogen lighting it shows up plentiful markings. Not the skating rink of overplayed and abused vinyl but just scuffing and fingernail marks. Which is odd because when you look at the labels the LP does not appear to have had much play at all. There are hardly any marks around the spindle hole. Perhaps these scuff marks are just the result of exuberant handling - certainly there are no nasty feelable scratches at all. Despite these scuff marks this perfectly flat heavyweight disc plays fantastically well with vibrancy and clarity - a real '60s treat. This disc grades G+.

Good luck if you are bidding. Swift payment required at end of auction please.
