Description

"The Rolling Stones Now !". This record is on the maroon colored boxed London label, Mono LL-3420. The album was issued in 1965. The record is housed in the original uncensored cover with the controversial liner notes written by Stones manager, Andrew Loog Oldham. The offensive cover was quickly withdrawn and Oldham's shocking suggestion removed on subsequent issues of "The Rolling Stones Now !". (The columns of liner notes are of equal length.)
The front cover of this album has tinted, reflective coloration in five of the  nine photos in the group. The color tone of these photos are of a pinkish red and blue. (see pics). Additionally, when the cover is tilted at a certain angle the reds and blues blend into one another to form a deeper red color.
Every other "Rolling Stones Now !" cover I have ever seen is black and white.

I have no knowledge or explanation of the origin of this completely unique cover. All I can say is the colors seem to be in the fabric of the cover itself and not applied to the surface, i.e. magic marker or some such other coloring implement. The colors do not smear when rubbed and they are placed perfectly into the faces, hands and hair of the members of The Rolling Stones pictured on the front. There is but one example of the color bleeding and that is a small bit on the collar of Charlie Watt's shirt.
As I said I cannot explain this anomaly, all I can do is hope the pictures I have provided aid in this mystery.
