THE ROLLING STONES

OUT OF OUR HEADS

DECCA LK 4733 MONO

RECORDED SEPTEMBER 1965

Masters ARL-6973-9A ARL-6974-10B

This is the Rolling Stones third British album. It is the 1st and original UNBOXED Decca label, with the original Robert Stace sleeve printed in England.

The Sleeve: In a Very Good Minus condition. The laminated Clarifoil front is completely intact and the photograph still retains a glossy appearance. No writing or writing imprints, and no marks. Clean with no staining or discoloration. No rips or seam splits. The only imperfections are several half-moon creases emanating from the laminate corners, and a few half moon superfical creases near the opening edge side. The is firm and flat and has survived the decades well.

The sleeve has the rare '965' error instead of the year '1965' printed on the reverse.

The Vinyl Record:

The vinyl surface and grooves are clean, and overall the surface still holds a very good shine. Considering the extent to which Rolling Stones LP's were played, and this being a first pressing, it is hardly surprising that the surface is not perfect. There is a circular stylus lines on both sides in a similar position, which can be felt very light by running a finger over, and are not very deep into the surface, and are very likely the result of using a worn needle/ unbalanced arm. On side 1 this causes some loud hiss and ticks to be heard as the needle passes over for several seconds on the track 'Good Times', on Side 2 the interruption is less noticeable. The condition of the vinyl would grade as Good or Good Plus, and there are several other blemishes but only superficial on the very surface.

The audio quality is somewhat better than the condition of the vinyl would suggest. Apart from the aforementioned noise at that particular point, there a few other interruptions. There is the occasional tick to be heard but overall the audio falls into the Very Good category as it plays from start to finish on both sides without any skipping or stops. Most tracks play clearly and overall the playback gives a good full mono definition, but this would definitely be regarded as a rarity filler piece for a collection.

The vinyl is also free from warps and lies true and flat on the turntable.

Labels are in a fairly good appearance, they are clear and bright with no writing, no marks, no sticker or sticker residue. Feint spindle lines can be seen in normal bright light, but there are none particularly heavy, there is a little wear to the label perimeter area around the spindle location point, but certainly not the worse you could find on sale. The label retains a deep colour contrast and the text is complete and well defined.

This is the original Decca Record Company Ltd label defined by the unboxed Decca emblem Maroon coloured label, with copyright NCB and BIEM boxes on the right, and the M.C.P.S. text has the dots inbetween the letters.
