THE ROLLING STONES Out Of Our Heads ORIG UK Decca MONO GROOVED LP
The Rolling Stones, Out Of Our Heads.
Original 1965 UK pressed Decca Records mono LP, LK 4733.
This first issue features dark red and silver labels with distinctive Decca inset groove and unboxed Decca logo.
8B / 12A matrix suffixes.
Although not mint, this is very well preserved, and far better than the majority of extant issues. Spider trail marks are visible around the spindle areas, but not to an excessive degree, and there is no whitening or wear to the centre areas. The vinyl still has a very high gloss and is free of any scratches or immediately noticeable marks. Closer examination reveals a few light hairline and other scuff marks, but these are not excessive, and the surfaces are not a network of fine marks. On the whole visually a top end VG plus.
Playback has been tested in entirety and is a strong VG plus. Some light crackle is heard at the run-ins and band separators, but this does not permeate noticeably on to the actual tracks. There is just one instance of approx. three quiet and low level consecutive ticks and two or three other isolated very low level ticks, else playback is clean and free of clicks, ticks, skips etc.
Labels are clean and undefaced and still have a very acceptable lustre.
Inner sleeve is orginal poly-lined die-cut paper and in VG condition. Bright, unmarked and unbrowned, although fairly creased, most noticeably at the corner areas. No seam splits or tears.
External sleeve is a very well preserved example. The laminated front panel still has a very good gloss, and displays just a trace of ringwear impression. A couple of light half moons to laminate and just a few tiny pinch line creases leading in from edge areas, else little to fault with the front. There are not even any of the usual minor dinks and hairlines. Rear panel is also very solid. No pen marks or ugly browning or tan stains which seem endemic to these sleeves. Just a tad of overall age darkening. There is a neat band of yellowing along the top edge from a removed strip of sellotape used to reinforce the top backflap. This is not gummy and is smooth to the touch. The top internal backflap does need to be regummed, but is not damaged or torn. The edges are superbly preserved with the spine unblemished and the entry side crisp and sharp and without feathering.
All in all a pretty well preserved example and not often found in this shape.
