The Rolling Stones : Some Girls A 1U / B 1U Censored Inner 1978

You may have noticed that I am selling two version of this album this month.  The one with the uncensored inner sleeve and this one which is the censored version.  It has 'Pardon our appearance.  Cover under reconstruction' on both sides of the inner as opposed to the celebrities faces.  This pressing, as per the other listing, plays to an incredible standard with no interference at all.  The clarity, definition and power of the audio is so impressive and the vinyl is in great condition also.  A FINAL UPGRADE version in my opinion.

The die-cut cover is in superb condition with just one small corner crease and it has retained its original shape and structure perfectly.  The 'censored' inner sleeve is almost 'as new' with barely any wear.

This pressing still has the Ted Jensen lacquer cut initials etched in the run outs but this time the cover has pale colour bands on the front.  The 'Some Girls' title is in red.

Visual description

The vinyl is in superb condition and still has a lovely glossy sheen with barely any marking and no scratches.  Under a bright light I can only see a small number of very faint hairlines and some minor faint 'specks' but this has no affect on the stunning quality of the audio.  The yellow labels are unmarked with hardly any spindle wear.

Play grading

The intro on 'Miss You' plays perfectly with Wyman very much to the fore with that strong deep bass sound.  Jagger's opening vocal is equal to that and it continues to play to the highest standard possible.  The quieter mid section has no background, not even a dust tick, and the rest of the track is is just as impressive including the long fade out.  This is easily a Mint start to the album.

'When The Whip Comes Down' plays with phenomenal audio with no interference and no distortion either.  The playback is so strong and deep and it just could not play any better.  A powerful number and yet the audio definition is stunning i.e. every note so sharp and precise.  Mint

The intro and opening vocal on 'Just My Imagination...' is faultless and there is no drop in quality as it progresses.  Superb sonic quality once more - tremendous power and depth and resonance on the audio and... no interference.  Mint

The intro on the 'controversial' title track 'Some Girls' has no intrusion and the opening vocal is on the same level.  This track often plays with some inner groove distortion but the playback is very clean here and needless to say there are no ticks, clicks, pops or static.  There is perhaps a little distortion on the final vocal section but it's minimal and totally non-intrusive.  Mint-

The powerful 'Lies' plays with stunning quality from the get go.  The intro is flawless and the acerbic vocal is strong and clear throughout with barely any distortion.  There is nothing to detract from the audio and Mint- is again fair.

The intro on 'Faraway Eyes' plays with sublime clarity and Jagger's first 'country' vocal is as clean as a whistle!  The following chorus is of the same high end standard and it continues in the same way.  As good a version that you could wish for this is Mint from start to finish.

Another powerful track in 'Respectable' and it plays with genuine quality without any background.   It rocks out loud and true with no distortion on the top end - another definitive version you could say.  Mint

I do not wish to sound repetitive but 'Before They Make Me Run' also plays with outstanding quality through every section.  Richards' taking the lead this time and it grades as Mint

The intro on 'Beast Of Burden' plays beautifully and the opening vocal again plays like the record was pressed yesterday!  This clarity, depth and warmth is prevalent throughout and I cannot emphasise enough just how immaculate the audio is.  No ticks, clicks etc it is Mint from the first note to the last.

'Shattered' ends the album in fine style with, you guessed it, no interference.  Perhaps even more impressive is the sound quality itself i.e. there is barely any inner groove distortion and for a final track the audio is so clean.  This is very obvious on Wood's solo where you do often find said distortion.  Not here!  The remainder plays so clearly and again Mint- is a fair assessment of the audio.  A return to form for the Stones and what an album!

The Cover & Censored Picture Inner

The G & L die-cut cover is in great condition with barely any wear.  The edges and spine are pristine and the corners have only very minimal wear.  The opening edge has no handling wear and the front cover is stunning with only one small crease in the bottom right corner.  The die-cut 'faces' are all in perfect condition.  The back cover is super clean although I have just noticed some creasing from left to right near the bottom of the cover.  However, it is faint and can only be seen when you hold it at a certain angle.  A fine example overall.

The 'censored' inner sleeve is practically 'as new' with no side splits or marking and no creasing either.  It has only the lightest of ringwear near the foot of each side.

Play tested on my Rega P2 with AT-VM95EN Cart / Denon PMA-520AE Amp / B&W 684 Speakers

This record has been cleaned on my Pro-Ject VC-S machine

Postage & Packaging

I will only send items items worldwide via tracked shipping.  This provides 'peace of mind' in case of loss or damage.  The shipping costs are shown below and combined shipping is always offered.  Any over-payment will always be refunded.

The Royal Mail only insure up to a value of £250 so if an item sells for more it may be wise to use a courier service (e.g. Parcelforce or DPD).  An extra insurance premium will be required but I will not know the exact amount until the final sale price is known.  Because of this I will sometimes have to estimate the cost and this will be shown in the listing.  Please wait for the invoice before making payment and if you have any questions please feel free to ask.  Many thanks.

All vinyls are packaged in strong over-sized custom made mailers with plenty of extra cardboard protection.  They are placed inside separate poly-lined inners outside the cover so as to avoid seam splits in transit and then placed inside a PVC sleeve to provide even more protection.  I pride myself on my high quality packaging as my feed confirms and if any customer has any specific requirements I am more than happy to help.

The mailers I use cost £1.00 each and I will use anything between 3-5 cardboard stiffeners which cost approx £0.18 each.  There is also the cost of the poly-lined inner and PVC sleeve to consider, it all adds up!  Not forgetting that eBay take 10% of the shipping fee also!!
