Description

The Rolling Stones : Through The Past Darkly (Big Hits Vol. 2)
This first stereo pressing on the unboxed blue Decca label plays with stunning quality and has only been played once, maybe twice in my opinion.  The vinyl is visually stunning and is a final upgrade version.  The laminated 'octagonal' cover has only minor shelf wear and the blue stereo inner sleeve remains in excellent condition.
SKL 5019 // XZAL - 9067.P - 1W / XZAL - 9068.P - 2W // B G 1 / G H 1
The audio on S1 is Near Mint (Mint- for the majority / track 3 Ex+)
The audio on S2 is Mint-
The cover is Ex+
The labels are Mint-
The original inner sleeve is Ex+
Visual grading
The vinyl has only one small very faint spindle trace on each side and is a beautiful example of this unboxed blue stereo pressing.  It has a superb glossy sheen and is visually very near perfect.  There are just a couple of faint hairlines on S2 and a little minor 'spotting' but this has no affect on the immaculate audio quality.  It would be very difficult to find better!  There is just the one tiny spindle trace on S2 so I suspect the record has been hardly played.  The labels and run out grooves are also in perfect condition and the JT tax code is stamped on both sides.
Play grading
'Jumpin' Jack Flash' begins proceedings with superb audio and there is no interference at all.  What is so obvious on the stereo pressing is how rich and deep the audio is on this track.  The bass levels are super high!  There are a small number of barely audible dust ticks but this is Near Mint - the fade out plays perfectly also.
'Mother's Little Helper' goes one better and grades as Mint- with no clicks or pops and no static or crackle either.
'2,000 Light Years From Home' has a little static and one light click on the quiet intro and as track 'gets going' the audio is very impressive with only one other click.  The quiet section just beyond the halfway point has barely any static and the remainder is stunning and the end section has only mega light background static.
'Let's Spend The Night Together' and 'You Better Move On' both play 'as new' from start to finish. The definition of the audio could not be any clearer and you could be mistaken for thinking this is a new vinyl!
The intro on 'We Love You' is quite possibly the cleanest I have ever heard, it is stunning!  From then on the audio is nigh on perfect with no 'background' of any kind.  Featuring backing vocals from a certain Lennon & McCartney this psychedelic track plays with wonderful depth and such a strong bassline again.  It's plain to see this track was recorded during the Satanic Majesties Request sessions.  A superb ending to the side.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
The classic 'Street Fighting Man' impresses from the very first note and continues to play with sublime clarity and depth.  On such a beautifully preserved like this it is hard not being repetitive but suffice to say from start to finish there is not even a dust tick here let alone anything worse.  A Mint- version without doubt.  Audio does not get any better than this!
The piano intro on 'She's A Rainbow' just has to be heard to be believed!  It has that aesthetic quality of a CD but with more warmth and depth obviously.  I am delighted to say this standard is maintained throughout.  There are 3/4 barely audible dust ticks during the very quiet piano/strings section but you have to listen hard to hear them!  In fact this section just exemplifies how stunning the clarity is on this track.  The remainder plays with immaculate quality and I cannot remember when I heard a version as good as this.  Mint- and 100% stunning!
The classic 'Ruby Tuesday' is of the same impeccable standard with exceptional clarity again.  All I could detect was a handful of mega quiet dust ticks but this hardly qualifies as interference!  I honestly think a Mint- grading is deserved here.
'Dandelion' and 'Sittin' On The Fence' both play without fault, just a very small number of barely audible dust ticks on the latter, and thus far there has not been any interference on this side.  Has it ever been played before?!
'Honky Tonk Women' closes the album with superb definition and if anything more treble is needed here as the bass is so deep!  This is a truly astounding version and it has no inner groove distortion at all which is a rare for any record.  Wow what an ending!
In summary this final upgrade archive pressing has a clarity and depth that is so rarely found today.  Only played once or twice the vinyl is visually stunning and is the most impressive I have ever heard.  Yes S1 has a couple of light clicks but the remainder is so 'clean' and S2 is out of this world, never heard better!  The octagonal cover is also in excellent condition as is the original blue stereo inner and would add to any collection.
The Cover
The laminated octagonal G&L cover is one of the best examples I have ever seen.  The edges have very little rubbing and the spine remains very strong with only very minor wear on the bottom corner, it is still 100% legible.  All the other corners are in excellent shape with next to no wear.  The front cover is very clean with only minimal fading and laminate just has some of the usual 'lift' by the spine and one mega split next to the top corner of the spine.  The back cover is in superb order with no wear at all and that is the same for the inside.  So much better than the majority you see today!
Inner Sleeve
The original blue Stereo inner sleeve has no splits or tears and hardly any creasing.  Again this is a superb example of its kind.
The Labels
The unboxed labels are fantastic condition with only one mega tiny spindle trace on S2, I have never seen cleaner.  They both have the JT tax stamp on the run out grooves.
