ALBUM PLAYED FOR GRADING:

Yes – brilliant! - TOP AUDIO - GREAT sound quality throughout

This rare record plays up to its visual grading and beyond.  Super Clear Strong Sound, this beautiful record plays with vibrant audio throughout. Strong, undistorted sound, the frequencies are sharp and clear and free of any loud pops or clicks. 

The start of the record on both sides is relatively clear, with little background static. ‘ Everybody ' powers in with virtually No background noise,  and there is amazingly clear sound on the intro of ' What a Shame '.  The beginning of ‘ I can't be Satisfied ’ is very clear, the channels are clean and unstressed with NO evidence of any groove-wear whatsoever. 

This great vinyl plays with NO loud pops or clicks. There is some occasional light background static, but it is very light and infrequent. There are a few repeat clicks at the start of 'Off the Hook', but they are light.

The record plays with staggering power, with minimal surface sound during the tracks.  The music jumps out, with definition and clarity, particularly on the percussion instruments, and vocals which come through with tremendous power. As is the same with the bass guitar and drums, whilst the guitars come through crisp and clear. Super strong sound with minimal distractions, the album plays right through with absolutely NO sticks, jumps or continuous unwanted noises what so ever!

This is a great Audio pleasure and I would have to give the Audio at least an EXCELLENT grading.

A great all round example of this great  No 2  vinyl, and a staggering first MONO mix, unlike the re-issues that lack the impact and the clarity of sound. 

THE RECORD - Visual Grading - EXCELLENT

A lovely piece of glossy vinyl. It does have some faint hairlines, but the are light and have virtually no effect on the sound. There is a very light scratch about half way through ' Off the Hook ', that causes a few clicks, but they are very light. 

There are a few faint hairlines, and handling marks, only, this vinyl has been played carefully and shows no groove wear. Unbelievable to think this vinyl is 46 years old!

The Rolling Stones No. 2 is the second UK album by The Rolling Stones released in 1965 following the massive success of their 1964 debut The Rolling Stones. The Rolling Stones No. 2 followed its predecessor's tendency to largely feature R&B covers. However, it does contain three compositions from the still-developing Mick Jagger / Keith Richards song writing team.

Using the same cover shot as 12 X 5, the second US released album in October 1964, The Rolling Stones No. 2 track listing would largely be emulated on the upcoming US release of The Rolling Stones, Now!. While Eric Easton was co-credited as producer alongside Andrew Loog Oldham on The Rolling Stones' debut album, Oldham takes full production duties for The Rolling Stones No, 2, which was recorded sporadically in the UK and US during 1964. 

A huge hit in the UK  upon release, The Rolling Stones No. 2 spent 10 weeks at #1 in early 1965, becoming one of the year's biggest sellers in the United Kingdom.

VINYL TESTED FOR ANY SIGNS OF WARPING:

Yes, NONE visible what so ever, when tested be sight and on a moving turntable.

THE COVER 

Comes with the original  laminated Sleeve printed in England by James Upton Ltd, with cover image by the famous photographer David Bailey. This first issue cover has the flip-backs on the rear,  not issued after mid  1965, and also has the Andrew Loog-Oldham rant including the words '...see that blind man knock him on the head, steal his wallet...'. These covers were withdrawn early after the release due to controversy around this text and the offence it could cause, making this an ULTRA RARE example!

There is no feathering to the opening edge, which is very unusual. There are some light laminate creases and indentations (as shown clearly in the images) and a little discolouration on the rear cover. This really is  a nice cover, with little to fault it, other than some light handling marks and corner wear. It would have to rate at at least at VERY GOOD PLUS.

THE LABELS - EXCELLENT

Famous RED DECCA labels are in GREAT Condition, no marks or writing, no discernible  spindle wear.  Great all round examples, with a spindle traces only! CLASSIC!

Even with the cleanest copies you will find occasional static sound during playback, caused by a build of dust in the grooves. This is clearly different from the distortion, loud pops or clicks that are found on heavily played and worn pieces of vinyl. Any static build up will reduce when played, and I advise a light clean should be given between plays for optimal performance.

MY RECORD GRADING SYSTEM IS AS FOLLOWS - (BASED ON RECORD COLLECTOR MAGAZINE U.K. )

MINT: Virtually unplayed. The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. Cover is pristine.

EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

V.G PLUS: The record will still be nice and shiny, but may have a few light marks, and will play well. Slight wear and tear on the cover.

V.G: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items.

GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, etc.

FAIR: Fair. It is noticeable that the record has been played so much that the sound quality has deteriorated very noticeably. The cover and contents are showing signs of folding, scuffing of edges etc.
