SLEEVEFront board.Inner gatefold EX+ As far as U.S. sleeves go this one rates quite highly. I'm pretty sure they didnt think much further than the immediate future and left their sleeves unlaminated and open to the ravages of ringwear and general degredation until some of them look really poor and tatty these days. As I said this one is in pretty good shape NO writing stickers tears etc, the front boars is nice and clean with just VERY LIGHT overall ageing and storage wear. INNER GATEFOLD is clean and unmarked with MINIMAL wear and ageing Rear board EX+ REAR board is much as the front CLEAN unmarked and again with VERY LIGHT ageing and storage wear and NO ringwear Flipbacks N/A N/A Spine EX+ Nice uncrushed and unworn spine with nice clear lettering Top & bottom edge EX+ Both Top and bottom edges are in great shape with a little light storage wear and rubbing to the gold edging Opening EX+ Opening has MINIMAL usage and VERY LIGHT storage and handling wear Corners EX Corners have light wear only with a little bit of squashing at the top of the spine INNER /EXTRAS
INNER SLEEVE: EXCELLENT (Always been something that makes US pressings standout from their U.K. counterparts and would have been great to have are the full colour AD inners, really vibrant and great to find, this one is in good condition with NO writing rips tears and MINIMAL actual wear,has an 1" or so of wear along the bottom edge but I have transferred to a "proper" UK lined DECCA sleeve to preserve its condition)
DETAILSThe Stones forsook psychedelic experimentation to return to their blues roots on this celebrated album, which was immediately acclaimed as one of their landmark achievements. A strong acoustic Delta blues flavor colors much of the material, particularly "Salt of the Earth" and "No Expectations," which features some beautiful slide guitar work. Basic rock & roll was not forgotten, however: "Street Fighting Man," a reflection of the political turbulence of 1968, was one of their most innovative singles, and "Sympathy for the Devil," with its fire-dancing guitar licks, leering Jagger vocals, African rhythms, and explicitly satanic lyrics, was an image-defining epic. On "Stray Cat Blues," Jagger and crew began to explore the kind of decadent sexual sleaze that they would take to the point of self-parody by the mid-'70s. At the time, though, the approach was still fresh, and the lyrical bite of most of the material ensured Beggars Banquet's place as one of the top blues-based rock records of all time.
