Description
This is an original 1959, 2 record, cloth covered box set produced by RCA Living Stereo in the beautiful and limited Soria series. The label number is LDS 6065.
Included are the 2 shaded dog stereo LPs; a 12 page booklet printed in Italy in color and black and white explaining the song histories , the composers, the story of each song, and a sampling of pictures of the dancers and scenes; and a program insert listing the record sides and song tracks. The inner maroon box containing the records and booklet has a wooden spine(covered in black cloth and gold lettering) that seals the opening of the outer cloth covered box.
The sound of the records is extremely clear and dynamic with excellent base foundation that comes through beautifully on my stereo pair of HSU Research 10" subs.
This set is unusual in that one record was incorrectly labeled by RCA with the side 4 label used on both sides. The previous owner used a ball point pen to line through the incorrect songs and write the correct track information(see photo).
The outer box is in very good to excellent condition with unsoiled cloth and clear black lettering. The front photo has a very small dig next to the male dancer's left hip(see photo). The top and bottom edges of the spine and the four corners of the outer box opening are slightly frayed(see photo).
The program insert is in good condition with slight creases and light soiling(see photo).
The original Soria record sleeves(made and printed in Great Britain) are intact , somewhat yellowed with age, and there is a 1/4 inch tear on the center hole of one sleeve.
The records were cleaned on a Nitty Gritty vacuum machine, and they have excellent shine with perfect spindle holes. Both records were played for evaluation, and I would rate sides 1 and 4 as VG+ with very few hairline scratches and scuffs. Side 2 is VG+ to VG with one very light tic for 7 revolutions. Side 3 is VG to VG- only because of one light tic for 11 revolutions and 2 other very light tics for 3 revolutions. All sides have original luster.
The box set will be wrapped in bubble wrap and placed in a sturdy box. The shipping weight will be 3.9 pounds or 1.8 kgs, and the box size will be 16 X 16 X 4 inches. Shipping within the US will be via media mail with insurance required. Priority mail at extra cost is available upon request. International shipping will be via USPS priority mail international with insurance required. All customs duties are the responsibility of the buyer using the eBay sales price for value. Please remember not to ask for marking the package as a gift.
