PLEASE NOTE:  Records are visually inspected and then played in order to come up with a meaningful evaluation. Every mark, mar, imperfection, scratch and countless other potential anomalies are not considered individually and certainly not singled out unless they are heard in the play process, but rather lumped together in things such as “occasional light paper scratches” for example. If I can’t hear it on the playback, I obviously won’t comment on it. I use a Music Hall 9.1, a Music Hall 5.1 or an AR “The Turntable” with either a Goldring Eroica MC, or Goldring 2200 MM or a Denon A100 MC cartridge depending on the turntable. So please do not assume, as occasionally I get comments, that I should have noted something in the listing when you might hear and I don’. I think the feedback speaks for itself and after selling close to 6,000 records since 1999, I will do my best to deliver to you the best product I can. I can’t guarantee that with your cartridge, turntable and set-up you won’t hear something I don’t but I can guarantee that I won’t send anything that is intentionally below my high standards.

THE SERPENT’S POWER (Vanguard, 1967)   VERY RARE PSYCH!

This is another of the Vanguard Psych groups of the ‘60s. Led by poet David Meltzer, the group was an expression for his poetry. It is another one of those records that every talks about but no one has or, if they do, usually in beat-up condition.

The cover is absolutely out of this world; no ring wear, scuffing, rips, tears or marks. It has the look, feel and texture of new. The only cover issue is that it is a cut-out and you can see the punch hole in the lower front left. The vinyl is just as good. I have rarely seen a disc that is 45 years old in circulation that has been this good. The disc is SUPER SHINY with no appreciable issues even when I shined a strong light on it. The sound is excellent at least by the mid to late ‘60s standards; silky and smooth with excellent definition and soundstage. I was totally blown away.

I get asked often why records like this I charge so much. It is because I can verify the lineage, the condition and care/storage. I bought it new or like-new if used, it has hardly been played, cleaned and stored in VRP sleeves upright with little side pressure and stored in a controlled environment and played ONLY on my audiophile equipment. There are very few out there that one is going to find in this condition. This is a record from my personal collection. I don’t really want to sell it but if I get my price I will and if not I will keep it and eventually I will find someone who will value it more than I do! Records like this I can sell for more when I am back in the EU than what I ask on eBay. If I took this to a convention in Germany or Holland, I’d get minimum e 130 ($170) since European collectors love American, records.

I find it hard to believe that you will find a better copy.  Here’s your chance to find a record that you will see seldom and virtually never in this condition.
