Early Latin Doo Wop
DETAILS: Very hard to find original debut single by The Shadows on Del Fi Records. Circa 1958. The band was comprised of the Jimmy Carlos and Pete Antoniano who were brothers who shared the same mother but had different fathers. They recorded "Under Stars Of Love" and "Jungle Fever" under the name the Shadows. It was released in September of 1958 but the record was a sales disappointment. The primary reason for this was because people were confused by the groups name. Because the brothers used the name "The Shadows", many people believed them to be a black vocal group. When people heard the music they were surprised by the rich latino / chicano influences rather than the black influenced vocals they were expecting. Too bad as the group is considered by many early doo wop fans to be amongst the most innovative groups of their time. CONDITION: Vinyl Record visually grades in Very Good (VG) Condition but audio playback sound quality is in the high Very Good Plus (VG+) range. Above images are of the actual item.
