Description
This is a fine condition first pressing of the FIRST record from the Austin, Texas punk scene. "Can't Get Loose" b/w "Earthquake Shake" are flaming hot rock n roll from this powerhouse Austin rock trio that set Raul's afire beginning in early 1978, just two weeks after the Sex Pistols blazed thru the Lone Star State. The record was recorded in a garage on a two-track and the first pressing of 1000 copies sold out quickly. After that the band played CBGB's, Max's, and other joints in the new wave mecca of Manhattan. Still performing special gigs after 30 years, THE SKUNKS are a true Texas legend. Features JESSE SUBLETT on bass and vocals, JON DEE GRAHAM on guitar and BILLY BLACKMON on drums. Sublett became a crime novelist, screenwriter and playwright and still performs solo in the Austin area. Jon Dee Graham is one of Austin's favorite singer songwriters and guitarists and his work with bands like the True Believers, Michelle Shocked and James McMurtry and John Doe is highly esteemed. This record has no obvious flaws. I believe it was kept as a collectors item as it shows no signs of wear.
