Description
Rare opportunity to buy this first pressing of the superb debut album from The Slits.
Released in 1979 on the Island record label the album contains ten tracks including "Instant Hit", "So Tough", "New Town" and "Typical Girls". Produced by Dennis Bovell (better known for his reggae and dub productions) the style of the album took many people by surprise with it's bass-heavy spacey sound that's still sounding fresh today.
The catalogue number of the album is ILPS 9573 and the serial numbers scratched into the run-out grooves are ILPS 9573 A-1U on the first side and ILPS 9573 B-1U on the second side.
(NB. The band followed up this album in 1981 with a 12 inch vinyl 45 rpm EP featuring the tracks "Earthbeat And Earthdub" and "Begin Again, Rhythm". These tracks were also produced or remixed by Dennis Bovell and feature a continuation of the sound found on "Cut". See my other current auctions for a chance to own this EP.)
I take great care with my records. I have always replaced them in their sleeves and stored them upright pressed between other albums. Accordingly the disc, glossy gatefold cover and card inner sleeve are all in excellent (near mint) condition. The one or two slight surface marks on the vinyl are superficial only and do not affect the sound.
