Great Small Faces lead guitar vocalist Steve Marriott was a forceful presence in the 60s rock scene, and these boys were an essential part of the scene from 1964 on.
The group shook off the mod trappings they'd been identified with, and represented the hippier drug culture without losing credibility.
Their cocky cockney attitude saw them thumbing their noses toward the stiff exclusionary morality of the oldies - not least those of the BBC and stuffy mainstream!
When 'Itchycoo Park' got banned from TV and radio just for the lyric ''we'll get high-igh", they followed up with 'Here Comes The Nice', all about greeting the drug dealer..... and the beeb stiffs didn't even realise that's what it was all about!
This album was their second intended lp, they began recording with Decca but left the manager Don Arden (father of Sharon Osborne) and took up with Stones manager Andrew Loog Oldham. Decca issued a mod instilled compilation to stymy the success of this lp - to some success. This was put right with the next brilliant record 'Ogden's Nut Gone Flake'.
This 1967 predecessor may not have achieved the rightful acclaim, or sales, but it's quintessential Small Faces - and put with Ogdens it is a worthwhile companion lp.
Wonderful to have this amazing gem in great playing shape.
CONDITION;
The VINYL grades EXCELLENT.
One graze/scuff across track 3, plays through well. There are no other marks.
Lilac Lables are EXCELLENT, no stickers or tears.
The COVER is VG+, no splits, pen or stickers
Ringwear to the front cover.
