RARE WITHDRAWN "A-1" UNEDITED MISPRESS VARIATION Up for auction is an exceptionally rare, genuine crossover copy of The Smiths' iconic 1984 single. This is the highly sought-after withdrawn unedited mispress, featuring the rare A-1 matrix stamp.
WHY IS THIS COPY UNIQUE? Unlike standard releases, this accidental early pressing uses the unedited master tape. It features an extra lyric verse sung by Morrissey at the end of the song ("I was happy for a while, but heaven knows I'm miserable now..."), extending the track's runtime to 3:51 instead of the standard 3:34. Rough Trade quickly halted production to destroy these, making surviving A-1 discs incredibly scarce.
This specific copy is a fascinating "transition" pressing—combining the rare withdrawn A-1 vinyl with the iconic orange-spined sleeve that Rough Trade had just introduced for the corrected A-2 run.

under bright light. It has been play-tested and delivers gorgeous, crisp audio throughout. No deep scratches, jumps, or loud clicks. Truly a fantastic listen.
Sleeve: EXCELLENT (EX) The original grey-tinted Viv Nicholson picture sleeve is in wonderful shape. The vibrant orange spine is crisp and completely intact. Edges are sharp with no seam splits, writing, or major ring-wear. Includes the original inner sleeve.
