Description

Wow. This is the very first time one of these has been sold. I have looked on Popsike, , ect. and have yet to find a listing for a translucent "Meat is Murder." There isn't even a Discogs listing for it.
Background Info: These are what are referred to as "Irish Pressings" of Smiths records. They have a 'double dip' in the label and are almost impossible to find, due to very low production. They were pressed at Carlton Productions in Ireland. The vinyl looks black in regular daylight, but when held to a strong light, the vinyl turns a yellow/brown color. This is due to a different formula used for the vinyl. This case is similar to that of the rare Joy Division translucent red records. Once again, there almost impossible to find. I've seen almost every album by the Smiths have "Irish Pressings" with the exception of this, Meat is Murder. I highly doubt you will ever see one of these again. And the fact that I'm offering this in the USA with free shipping makes it an even rarer situation.

Grading:

****You will never get a bogus NM from me. I am a very conservative grader. The only thing that passes NM for me is when the record is unplayed or played one or two times. The record also has to be free of scuffs. Therefore, Near Mints are super rare by my standards*****

Cover:
Good (G+)   The cover still retains the original shrink wrapping, but unfortunately the sleeve has been water damaged and left a stain line. Comes with original inner sleeve. Inner has waving from water damage.

Record:
Play (Technics sl-q2 with AT440Mla cartridge AFTER A QUICK CLEAN ON A VPI):
Excellent playback with minimal surface noise. Some noise can be eliminated with a good clean.
Visual:
Excellent +   Under a bright halogen light, the record is very shiny with a few light scuffs from the cardboard inner. Label is mint. The run-in of the record has virtually no graying, which means the record was seldom, if ever, played.

MATRIX:
Side 1: ILLNESS AS ART MPO ROUGH 81 A1 CP
Side 2: DOING THE WYTHENSHAW WALTZ ROUGH B1

I WILL SEND THE RECORD IN A PROFESSIONAL CARDBOARD MAILER WITH CARDBOARD STIFFENERS AND BUBBLE WRAP. THE RECORD WILL BE PUT IN A POLYURETHANE-LINED INNER SLEEVE. THE SLEEVE WILL BE PUT IN A POLYURETHANE BAG. THE RECORD MAILER WILL BE WRAPPED WITH A THICK COVER OF BUBBLE WRAP FOR ADDED PROTECTION.

Once again, this is a one of a kind Smiths collectible. I highly doubt will see another. Please feel free to contact me with any questions. Happy bidding!
