Description

IN THE LAST five years of his life, JIMMIE RODGERS, "The Singing Brakeman," left an indelible legacy of great sides for Victor, which transcend yodeling, Hillbilly, or any other style you could pigeonhole him in.  Rodgers simply was GREAT.  


Here is his very first record, "THE SOLDIER'S SWEETHEART" and "SLEEP BABY SLEEP."  Recorded in Bristol, Tennessee in 1927, it set the standard not only for Rodgers, but for the host of singers who followed in his path.  


This original 1927 recording, master-pressed on a possibly early '30s Montgomery Ward M-4452, is in beautiful EE+ condition.
