THE SONICS "BOOM" 1966 Stereo LP Etiquette Records, Tacoma WA
Well, here it is and it really doesn't get much better. Before play grading this LP it appeared un-played and full of shine with some hairlines probably from the original paper sleeve. There was hardly any noise if any heard while grading this album so we grade it NM- and the jacket at VG+ with one 1" split at bottom. Heard a handful of light clicks, overall an amazing copy. A side is slightly cleaner than the B. Satisfaction is guaranteed on this item but we do require if you are overseas to either ask for more photos or examine the ones in the auction carefully before purchase so that there are no surprises later. Gorgeous disc and jacket that have been preserved for nearly 50 years. Feel free to send any questions you may have. Disc has been cleaned with VPI. Insurance is included in shipping price in the USA.

As with their debut, Boom was originally released on the local Tacoma label Etiquette, and the album is a 50/50 mix of unhinged Sonics originals and covers of trusty rock’n’roll standards. The opening high-energy assault of Cinderella is as primal as primal got in the pre-psychedelic days, as are He’s Waiting, Shot Down and arguably the most psychotic version of Louie Louie ever recorded. The band allegedly ripped the soundproofing off the walls of the Wiley/Griffith recording studio (an establishment more used to the sedate dynamics of country music than prototype punk) to get a more live sound. Frankly, it’s hard to imagine The Sonics at their peak sounding anything other than dangerously untamed.
