1969 original first pressing 2-Lp thick gatefold set of the very first Sons Of Champlin, the legendary first...with the crazy psychedelic-tweeker art gatefold...
The Sons of Champlin were one of the late ’60s San Francisco bands and “Loosen Up Naturally” was their first album. The band was fronted by Bill Champlin who wrote most of the songs, sang and played guitar, and keyboards. “Loosen Up Naturally” is released as a two LP set in 1969.
The band favored a unique sound ultilizing edgey soul review styled songs with Hammond B3 organ and psychedelic guitar flavorings. The results are strikingly different from the other San Francisco bands of the period. Bill Champlin was a fine songwriter and many of the tracks on “Loosen Up Naturally” feature inventive arrangements and interesting song structures. “Loosen Up Naturally” is a very good album that holds up well. Put Janis Joplin in front of this band and the history of the world might have been different.
The album had to be recalled and the cover redone because someone complained that it had the word “f *ck” on it. This supposedly destroyed any impetus the band had generated. Liner notes have nothing to do with whether an album is any good and “Loosen Up Naturally” is well worth listening to. Because of its solid roots in soul and R&B and inventive arrangements the music holds up very well.

CONDITION: The thick gatefold cover is clean, stiff and solid "EX" (excellent) would have graded M- but there is a light stamp of 7 numbers/letters at top back cover, no big deal at all, but there, the front IS M-
The vinyl records are both very clean glossy "EX" (excellent!)
