Description

The Sound Of Philadelphia - 1971 / 1986

This is an extremely rare boxed set of 14 Albums which charts the Philly sound from 1971 - 1986. All the usual suspects are covered but I have to say that this is a sensational piece of Soul history which doesn't come up for offer very often!

Each LP is 'themed' which I will describe below but cant put down all the songs as there are far too many to mention. Suffice to say those artists included are:

Billy Paul, O'Jays, Lou Rawls, Jean Carn, Intruders, Harold Melvin & Bluenotes, Three Degrees, Teddy Pendergrass MFSB, Archie Bell & Drells, Instant Funk, Peoples Choice, Carolyn Crawford, McFadden & Whitehead, Dexter Wansel, Dee Dee Sharp, Monk Montgomery, Bunny Sigler & more

The 14 Album Themes are as follows:

  1. 'Hit It'
  2. 'The Philly Sound'
  3. 'And The Sound Goes On'
  4. The Philly Hits Keep Comin'
  5. Cult Cuts
  6. Oldies But Goodies
  7. Summer Philly
  8. Funky Philly
  9. Mellow Moments 1
  10. Mellow Moments 2
  11. Party Party
  12. Summer Philly 2
  13. Jazzy Philly
  14. Into The Philly Future

All the classics are covered

Vinyl Condition - All Excellent - Some are mint unplayed

Label Condition - All Mint

The Box is totally intact but some storage wear is present. A booklet is included with some nice narratives about the artists.

If you are a serious soul fan, this one is not to be missed!!
