The Specials/ Special A.K.A. - Lot of 8 UK Original 1979 - 1982 7" Singles


This is a great collection of UK Original, unless stated, The Specials or Special A.K.A.
7" Singles. 1979-1982. Including a few 1st press "Paper Label" releases. They all come with their original company paper sleeve or Picture Sleeve. I shall place the vinyl in a separate plain paper sleeve to protect the original sleeve from any damage during transit. Condition is very nice overall. Playback is generally Excellent too. I have listed them individually below:



1. The Special A.K.A. - Gangsters/ The Selecter - The Selecter 
(2-Tone CHS TT 1/2 UK 7" 1979)

UK original 7" pressing with paper "2-Tone" labels. It comes with its original company plain paper sleeve. The record has 1st press matrix numbers.

Vinyl: There are some light, & a small area of mild, sleeve rubs that can be seen under a strong light. There is one very light hairline mark & one very small pressing mark. VG+ condition. I have play tested this single in its entirety. It plays VG++ to Near Excellent overall. There is some light or very mild crackle in some quieter places. The labels are in Excellent condition & show very mild spindle wear. The company plain paper sleeve is in Excellent condition. There is some light or very light ringwear. There are no seam splits


2. The Special A.K.A Live! - Too Much Too Young/ Guns Of Navarone/ Skinhead Symphony: Long Shot etc... 
(2 Tone TT 7 UK 7" EP 1980)

Early UK Picture Sleeve 7" pressing. It has a front laminated flipback sleeve. The sleeve is printed on card. The record has plastic silver & black "2 Tone" labels & has A-1/B-1 matrix numbers.

Sleeve: There is some light or very mild ringwear. There is a light crease on the front. There are no seam splits. VG++ condition.
Vinyl: There are some light to mild sleeve rubs which can be seen under a strong light. There is one light hairline mark. VG+ condition. I have play tested this single in its entirety. It plays Near Excellent to Excellent overall. Very well indeed. The labels are in Excellent+ condition.


3. The Specials - Rat Race/ Rude Bouys Outa Jail 
(2-Tone CHS TT 11 UK 7" 1980)

UK original 7" pressing with paper labels. It comes with its original company "2 Tone" paper sleeve. The record has 1st press A-1/ A-2 matrix numbers.

Vinyl: There are some light to mild sleeve rubs that can be seen under a strong light. There are two small & light hairline marks. There appears to be a thin & light pressing mark around the groove on the B-side. VG+ condition. I have play tested this single in its entirety. It plays Very Near Excellent to Excellent overall. Very well indeed. The labels are in Excellent+ condition & show very light spindle wear. The company paper sleeve is in Near Excellent condition. There is some light or very light ringwear & fading. There are no seam splits


4. The Specials - Rat Race/ Rude Boys Outa Jail 
(Chrysalis 101.995 7" 1980)

Original Picture Sleeve 7" pressing. Manufactured in Holland. It has a textured paper picture sleeve.  The record has paper labels with a large centre hole. It has its original plastic removable centre. It has 1st press matrix numbers.

Sleeve: There is some light or very mild ringwear. There is some minor creasing at the top opening. There are no seam splits. NEAR EX condition.
Vinyl: There are some light or very minor sleeve rubs which can be seen under a strong light. NEAR EX condition. I have play tested this single in its entirety. It plays Excellent+ overall. Really well indeed. The labels are in very near perfect condition.


5. The Specials - Stereotype/ International Jet Set
(2-Tone CHS TT 13 UK 7" 1980)

Early UK 7" pressing with plastic labels. It comes with its original company "2 Tone" paper sleeve. The record has A-1/ B-1 matrix numbers.

Vinyl: Minimal sleeve rubs can be seen under a strong light. There is one tiny 0.5 cm hairline mark. EX condition. I have play tested this single in its entirety. It plays Excellent+ to Near Perfect overall. Really well indeed. The labels are in Excellent condition & show light wear. The company paper sleeve is in Near Excellent condition. There is some light or very light ringwear & fading. There are no seam splits.


6. The Specials - Do Nothing/ Maggie's Farm
(2 Tone TT 16 UK 7" 1980)

UK original Picture Sleeve 7" pressing. It has a front laminated flipback sleeve. The sleeve is printed on card. The record has paper "2 Tone" labels & has A-1/A-2 matrix numbers.

Sleeve: There is a small area of rubbing wear to the centre of the front sleeve opening. There is some light or very mild ringwear. VG++ condition
Vinyl: There are some light or very mild sleeve rubs which can be seen under a strong light. There are some very light pressing marks too. VG++ condition. I have play tested this single in its entirety. It plays Near Excellent to Excellent+ overall. The labels are in Excellent+ condition and show minimal spindle wear.


7. The Specials - Ghost Town/ Why?/ Friday Night Saturday  Morning 
(2 Tone TT 17 UK 7" 1981)

Early UK Picture Sleeve 7" pressing. It has a matt flipback sleeve. The sleeve is printed on card. The record has plastic silver & black "2 Tone" labels & has A-1/B-1 matrix numbers.

Sleeve: There is some light ringwear & rubbing wear to the corner tips. NEAR EX condition.
Vinyl: Looks unplayed! Next to no sleeve rubs which can be seen under a strong light. Very NEAR EX condition. I have play tested this single in its entirety. It plays Excellent to Excellent+ overall. Really well indeed. The labels are in Excellent+ condition.


8. The Special AKA - War Crimes/ Version
(2 Tone TT 23 UK 7" 1982)

UK original Picture Sleeve 7" pressing. It has a matt sleeve which is printed on card. The record has paper "2 Tone" labels & has A-2/B-3 matrix numbers.

Sleeve: There is some light rubbing wear to the corner tips. There is some very light ringwear. Very NEAR EX condition
Vinyl: There are some etremely light sleeve rubs which can be seen under a strong light. There is a very minor rub mark on one side. EX condition. I have play tested this single in its entirety. It plays Excellent+ overall. Really well indeed. The labels are in Excellent+ condition and show minimal spindle wear.



Traceable insurance is already included in the stated P&P price for this listing.

All grading is very strict & adheres to 'Record Collector' specifications. However, I have fine tuned them & they are explained below. All vinyl is examined closely under a strong light & play tested.

 

MINT Condition = As good as a copy you would buy from a shop, immaculate! 

NEAR MINT Condition = Very nearly mint just slightly under, maybe a couple of very, very light paper sleeve scuffs that can only be seen under strong light. This disc has been played a couple of times at most. Cover is virtually perfect - very minimal wear only. 

EX Condition = A clean & tidy copy that shows virtually no defects. Maybe one or two light needle scuffs or light sleeve removal marks that can only be seen under strong light. There will be no scratches. Play will be near perfect with no distortion. Cover will be very nice with maybe very minimal creasing, ringwear or edgewear. 

NEAR EX Condition = You can tell this record has been played a few times but it has been well cared for. There will be minor surface marks only; that barely detract from the sound quality. Cover may have slight creasing or ringwear. A very serviceable copy that you will be pleased with. 

VG Condition = A well played but serviceable copy. There will be a few marks on the vinyl, but they won't be nasty scratches, just relatively light needle scuffs and sleeve removal marks, they will be noticeable but won't detract from play too much. Cover will show signs of storage/ ageing, e.g., creasing, slight folding, spinewear, ringwear or sticker tears. The record will not be trashed!!

All records will be sent in high quality vinyl mailers with at least two card stiffeners either side of the LP or 7". I use a cruciform box for larger orders (4-6 LPs). All parcels will be marked "Fragile" and dispatch time will generally be between 1-3 days after payment. 

I will also remove the vinyl from the sleeve & place them in a re-sealable polythene sleeve. In order to prevent seam splits. Depending on the inner sleeve; I often remove the vinyl from the inner sleeve & place it in a separate plain paper, or polythene-lined, plain inner sleeve. I am very conscientious and careful when packaging your LP(s). 

I consider my postage & packaging costs to be very transparent & very fair. Packaging costs will generally be between £0.80 to £1.50. I am not adding any further costs for handling, etc...
