THE STONE ROSES
SALLY CINNAMON
(For Grading purposes this album has been played before listing)
12” SINGLE 45rpm
Released by FM RECORDS
Catalogue number : 12 REV 36
Released in 1987
Sleeve
Pretty fresh looking, glossy free of stickers and handwriting. It has a good solid spine, very little edge wear, and no splits. The corners are still sharp with only minor wear to the tips. Opening edge is flat. There are some minor creases and the odd surface mark but over all it looks great. I’m going to grade this sleeve as excellent.
Inner sleeve
Comes with cream paper inner with the printed text N35/5/3. I will also be providing a white paper inner along with this record for shipping purposes.
Labels
The paper labels are clean and free from diry marks , names or stickers. Some spindle marks can be seen and over all both labels look great. I’m going to grade then both as excellent.
Stamper/ matrix info:
Side one: DMC- 6867-89
Side two: DMC- 6867 – B 1/3-89
Side one audio grade
Nice loud mix, bass sounds great, tambourine sounds like it’s in the room with me. Over all this track stills sound great and no drastic deterioration of the sound quality from being over played. There is some low level crackle and I did hear a couple of quiet pops in the background in a couple of places. It wasn’t distracting and not louder than the music. I’m going to grade the audio for this side as very good.
Side one visual grade
Nice glossy side. I see no deep scratches. I do see numerous very fine marks that come from either sleeve removal or cleaning, and the odd light scratch. If any of those are heard during playback I would have mentioned that above in the audio grade. So, it looks like it has been played often, but doesn’t look trashed. I’m going to be mean and grade it as very good minus.
Side two audio grade
Turn up the volume and give this side a good listen. Nice loud mix. There’s some crackle in the silent lead in that has continued into the track. I’m specifically listening out for things like this, so I’m really focusing on crackle extra and noticing these things more than if I was just playing the track for fun. I heard a couple of pops, and the crackle was low but constant, alternating between noticeable and not. Still this has been a good listen and the general audio is great with no continuous loud clicks, or pops, and certainly no jumps. I’m going to be harsh and grade it as good plus.
Side two visual grade
Pretty much as side one, good shine, signs of use but no killer scratches. Going to have to grade this side very good minus too.
Final thoughts
It is to my aim to sell unlistenable vinyl. If I find flaws that make it so I just don’t list it. I think despite having lots of plays, and with the odd crackle that this is still an acceptable copy. I’ve played side two through three times just to be sure, and I think it’s ok.
GRADING
I use the U.K Rare Record Guide grading system detailed below.
MINT The LP or single is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items are in perfect condition.
EXCELLENT The LP or single shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.
VERY GOOD The LP or single has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and an occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover and contents without any major defects.
GOOD The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.
