If I could award "The Most Aggressive Garage/Heavy Metal/Psych album ever recorded" medal to a band or album, this one would be a strong # 1 contender. There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that, as he was recording this album, Iggy Pop was nothing if not desperate / deranged man. One can simply hear the existential agony and anger pouring out from every groove and every song. The genuineness of this music simply cannot be questioned. This is Rock the way it was supposed to be in the beginning, and Rock that would have been, if we had not had Bobby Vees, Pat Boones, Fabians and their likes to spoil the party. The original album comprised of seven songs, four on side (A) and three on side (B). The songs on side (B) still, some twenty years after I heard this album for the first time, remains for me the single most extreme form of Rock’n’Roll ever created. Comparisons with other fierce, unyielding and uncompromising R&R cult classics don't do Stooges any justice. Maybe John Lennon’s "Plastic Ono Band" album comes close in terms of sheer psychopathic intensity, but that’s about it. This album is a category unto itself. Nothing else comes even close. Its a big cosmic vortex of pain, agony, anger, resentment, and nasty, unprintable attitude.

“SURGEON GENERAL” WARNING: This is not the album for the faint of heart: You are listening this at your own risk. Listening to other rock albums after this will make you forever lose interest in any other rock band. The songs are: Down on the street - Loose - TV Eye - Dirt - 1970 - Fun house - L.A. Blues. ALSO: we have heard many people claiming that this album originally came out on a red Elektra label with the large white "E" . Unfortunately, there is no such thing: EVEN THE WHITE LABEL PROMO PRESSINGS WERE ON A ‘BUTTERFLY’ LABEL!!!  RED-LABEL US pressing of "Funhouse" does not exist AND  will continue to not exist!!!

(IMPORTANT NOTE: unless otherwise noted, ALL records are graded visually, and NOT play-graded!; we  grade records under the strong, diffuse room light or discrete sunlight)

(a)          WE GRADE THE VINYL AS STRONG VG++. A few light abrasions  ARE VISIBLE, but they appear fairly  insignificant relative to the overall condition of the vinyl, and are only moderately visually distracting. For most part, the vinyl looks impeccable, without any MAJOR visual flaws or imperfections. Much of the original luster is intact, and the vinyl shines and sparkles almost like new.

(b)            The record is pressed on a RELATIVELY  thick, inflexible vinyl. This is NOT a thin, flimsy ('dynaflex' type),  vinyl, but not the thickest, most rigid vinyl, either.

(c)           The record comes in the original stock inner sleeve.

(d)          Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!

·                               THE COVER

THE COVER IS NICE --- ABOUT VERY GOOD++ (VG++).

The following flaws or imperfections are noted on the cover:

-        The gatefold cover has partially split seams on 1 out of 4 "legs" of the cover (about 2 inches / 1 inch = 2.5 centimeters).

-         Cover has some light ring wear (nothing significant); On the scale from 1 to 10 (1 being the least, and  10 being the most severe), we assess the severity of ring wear as 3  (front side) and 4 (back side); Inside gatefold has some light ring wear also  (nothing significant).

-         Cover has a few tiny wrinkles along the spine

-         Cover has some fraying/wear along the upper seam

-         Visible shelf wear noted on the bottom seam

-         Cover has all four corners slightly worn / dinged / bent. (nothing significant)

-         Cover has one corner slightly worn (1 corner dinged)

-         The cover has a few tiny scratch marks on the back side (nothing significant)
