I look at this gatefold and I...I feel all right
A very rare chance to own the first pressing PROMO WHITE LABEL of this most essential album--the Stooges' greatest.
Glossy vinyl with the barest hint of surface during some of the empty grooves between tracks, no scuffs, no scratches...it obviously never made it into a radio station library.
Maybe a rock critic got this one in the mail, listened to the first side and wrote a pan. This record got panned. It was right after the Summer of Love, and this...well...
This was one of the most inspiring albums for the first wave of punk, and yet few punk bands ever rose to this level of transcendent noise. One of those albums (like the first VU) that didn't sell (it got them dropped from Elektra) and yet will be reissued as long as there are human ears. It's just magnificent.
The sleeve at age 53 is still VG, obviously a bit worn at the corners, a nick or two, ringwear is restricted to the back cover--one 1" split at the bottom center, solid gatefold, and a shade of deep satanic orange that's not in any swatch book.
Even if you're not in the market for an historic copy like this, stream it if you have yet to hear it!
