Description
Here we have an original pressing of The Swindlefolk, A Rovin' from 1968. Released on Deroy recordings. Cat no ADM LP 521 A.
This folk album was pressed by the obscure and very collectable DEROY label from Carnforth, Lancashire. Deroy Sound Services were a privately run, custom recording-and-pressing concern. It was owned by Derrick Marsh and the label recorded and pressed some very desirable Folk and Rock albums, by the likes of THE SWINDLEFOLK, Parameter, Forever Amber, and Dark. all of which were given extremely limited pressings. LESS THAN 100 COPIES OF THIS PARTICULAR RECORD WERE PRESSED!!
The Sleeve
THE ALBUM ON OFFER HERE IS A SUPERB EXAMPLE AND IS COMPLETE WITH IT’S “HAND-MADE’ SLEEVE. THE PLAIN WHITE SLEEVE HAS BLACK TEXT ON THE BACK WITH DETAILS OF GROUP MEMBERS, TRACK LISTING AND NOTES ABOUT EACH TRACK. THE FRONT OF THE SLEEVE HAS A GROOVY BLACK AND WHITE SLICK PASTED ON TO IT. THIS PRECIOUS COVER ART IS OFTEN LOOSE BUT THIS IS FIRMLY AFFIXED. THERE IS SOME VERY LIGHT WEAR AND THERE IS SOME VERY MINOR TANNING. A SOLID EXCELLENT
The record and label
THE VERY HEAVY BLACK VINYL HAS PLAIN WHITE LABELS WITH “DEROY” SOUND SERVICE TEXT. THERE IS NO INFORMATION ABOUT THE ARTISTS OR THE RECORDING. OFTEN THESE LABELS HAVE INSCRIPTIONS BUT FORTUNATELY THESE ARE PRISTINE. THE VINYL IS BRIGHT AND SHINY WITH A FEW VERY FAINT HAIRLINES. IT PLAYS BEAUTIFULLY. A SOLID EXCELLENT
