EXCELLENT - record shows some signs of having been played,but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear or creasing. **note ~ where a NEAR EXCELLENT (EX-) grade is used it will mean a record which has a few very faint marks but not seriously affecting play. Most collectors will be happy with this grade for play.
VERY GOOD - the record has obviously been played many times , but displays no major determination in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items , without any major defects, is acceptable. **note ~ where a NEAR VERY GOOD ( VG-) grade is used it will mean that record is just below the very good standard visually and audibly. Perhaps a few more hairline marks but nothing to cause sticks or jumps in play.
GOOD - the record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriated,perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding,scuffing of edges , spine splits,discolouration etc... **note ~ I rarely use this grade unless the record / sleeve are especially rare and are worthy as a collection filler copy.
