Original Italian pressing on AUDIO FIDELITY label (AFSD 6184), from circa 1968. Killer acid psych / funky garage / strange pop oddity from the New York underground. This is the super-obscure Italian issue of a bizarre,1967 US exploitation release. Rumoured to be a studio group created by Audio Fidelity Records in NYC at the height of the flower power movement. Side A is sub-titled "Acid Rock" and features amazing trax with hip hop / crude electronics / fuzz distortions / cool vocals / drum breaks / baroque and funky electric keyboards / primitive garage rhythms and other kaleidoscopic sounds. Side B is sub-titled "Meditation" and is full of indo mysticism / narration / esoteric poetry over hallucinogenic mood music. Both sides have sound FX / tape manipulation / treated instrumentation and speaker panning. Our soundclip opens with the weird folk psychedelia / electronics and funky hip hop drums of LOVE SUPREME DEAL followed by Le Beat Bespoke compilation style themes PLAY YOUR GAME and GIRL FROM NOWHERE then other important trax including the drum breaks and insane Hendrix style guitar jam of I'VE GOT A ZEBRA SHE CAN FLY / the sitar trip cum spoken word rap of PRANA and equally bizarre PARABLE. Great for DJs. Reminds us of an imaginary mix of David Axelrod productions / Bill Plummer & The Cosmic Brotherhood and Journey To Bliss by Emil Richards & The Microtonal Blues Band. The Italian pressing has a laminated front / flipback sleeve and is maybe the most desirable issue. Seldom comes up for sale. Thick, heavy vinyl is in shiny, strong VG++ condition overall with some hairlines / faint scuffs. Light surface noises. Some soft pops / ticks in places (as you can hear on the soundclip). Old sticker residue mark to one side of label. Spindle marks to both sides of label. The laminated flipback sleeve is in strong VG++ condition with light wear. The normal faint scuffs to front laminate from storage. Some ring creasing and light ring wear marks. Perfect spine. Minimal light corner or edge wear. Sharp looking item. Rare Lp!!!
