Description
“The Use Of Ashes evolved from Mekanik Kommando, born on the waves of the early 80s 'Ultra Movement' in Holland. Mekanik Kommando recorded no less than six albums and some film scores. Over the years Mekanik Kommando adapted a more spheric, organic and psychedelic style. Most of the electric instruments were replaced by acoustic instruments. The music changed, the name changed. Mekanik Kommando became The Use Of Ashes, named after a Pearls Before Swine album. The Use Of Ashes is cinematic, dim and explores the caves of a rich dream world, challenging the listener to accompany the band on a journey in its world.” (discogs review) This lavish, handmade 3-LP box set includes Shadow Of A Rose (a reissue of a Mekanik Kommando LP), The Castle Of Fair Welcome (a reissue of a The Use of Ashes LP), and a previously unreleased album by Use Ashes called Dream—Three Men And A Boat. This is a limited edition of only 100 copies, and includes a rustic handmade booklet. The records are pressed on 180-gram vinyl. Released in Holland on the Tonefloat label in 2000.
