Description
Velvet Underground and Nico – mono – Rare US edition gatefold cover with banana sticker on front in-tact, and airbrushed Emerson on rear cover, near mint condition.
INFORMATION:
Gatefold sleeve with the V6-5008 Verve Catalogue number on the spine. This is the USA mono release and extremely rare. The front cover features the yellow banana in-tact with only slight evidence at the top of the banana where someone has tried to peel it (next to PEEL SLOWLY AND SEE). The rear cover is the airbrushed Eric Emerson torso. The inside gatefold opens with the track listings and various images of the band in black and white.
CATALOGUE NUMBER and YEAR OF RELEASE INFO:
The label on the LP reads Verve V-5008 (see picture) and the rear of the record also has V-5008 in the bottom left corner. My Sept '01 Record Collector magazine shows this record to be a well sought after Original Verve label V-5008, USA, March 1967. I checked The Velvet Underground Handbook and this also confirms this Verve V-5008 is the mono USA edition March 1967.

CONDITION:
The sleeve has a bit of shelf wear, although the record has been stored in a plastic sleeve which has protected it over the years. Inside the gatefold is in very good condition. The record has a few fingerprints which will clean off, but there are no visible scratches when the record is held up to the light that I can see. I can therefore confirm the record condition is near mint (on both sides of the record)
