This auction is for an extremely rare and collectible copy of THE VELVET UNDERGROUND & NICO LP with the banana sticker unpeeled!!! This is the stereo airbrushed version released in 1968 by Verve Records with a gatefold jacket and catalogue number V6-5008. The airbrushed version refers to the journalist Emerson being airbrushed out of the image on the back cover. This is the East Coast blue and silver T Verve center label pressing.

The banana is pretty strong, but has a tear near the top that was obviously reattached covering up the "Peel Slowly And See" text (visible in the photo). The torn piece was reattached at some point PRIOR to us receiving the record. I have photographed the tear in the forth photograph. It's still complete and fully attached to the jacket.

The record is in great shape with no skips or endless loops present. Plays through beautifully with only some light noise during the quietest of passages and tracks...most notably "Sunday Morning" which is a pretty quiet track. When I played the record through I didn't hear any pops, and judging from the records visual appearance this makes sense. The record looks to be VG+ visually with only the faintest signs of use and wear. Rated conservatively at VG audibly. Center labels are clean with only a few spindle marks and some light wear. Jacket is in VG shape conservatively, and is in pretty great shape for it's age. There is one seam split on the top right corner of the rear gatefold (visible in the third photo). Other seams have some wear but are not split. The top left and bottom left corners have some wear from storage most likely and have some of the paper missing. Just around the tips of the corner. Side spine is in great shape with no tears or paper missing and the text easily readable. Rated the jacket at VG because of the seam split, the light wear around the edges and cover, and some minor ringwear on the back of the jacket. Center of the gatefold is in great shape with all the photos in fantastic shape and no added markings present. Comes with the original Verve Records printed inner sleeve. We have transferred the record to a poly lined inner paper sleeve to ensure a safer passage on it's journey to your home!
