Sleeve EXCELLENT

This is the original pressing of the album with the Zippo lighter design.  The hinge for the lighter is still attached to both sections and works well.  The flame portion of the lighter is intact and in exceptional condition.  The unlaminated sleeve is still in very good condition with no tears or splits but there is some very light wear where the bottom edge of the lid section rubs against the body and behind the hinge (see photos)  but otherwise is in EXCELLENT condition with the colours still very bright there isn’t any writing, taping or stickers;

Inner Sleeve  The original asymmetrical cut black paper inner sleeve is in VERY GOOD condition apart from some creasing and a couple of minor tears (see photos) It was manufactured asymmetrically in order to facilitate fitting into the Zippo cover without catching. Unfortunately I’ve never seen one where it didn’t catch or crease no matter how careful the owner. Shortly after buying the record I decided the best strategy was to slide the vinyl out while trying to leave the inner sleeve in place, but it wasn’t a perfect solution. However, when you consider its age, it’s not done too badly. I will also include the original plastic outer that I bought with it, it still fits tightly and has successfully kept the dust off for all these years

Record NEAR MINT/EXCELLENT  It’s pressed on heavyweight vinyl, is clean and glossy and retains its deep, black vinyl sheen. There are some faint hairline marks on both sides but nothing ugly or deep to affect the sound quality. For some reason the original UK pressings had two matrix numbers on each side. On side 1 BML 2001 A   3U is crossed out and under it is ILPS 9241 A   3U with the word STERLING  and an R. Side 2 has BML 2001  B 4U crossed out and ILPS 9241 B  4U  and STERLING  R again

Labels NEAR MINT/EXCELLENT The labels show minimal signs of use, have no writing and are clean with minimal spindle marking.

Audio Quality NEAR MINT/EXCELLENT I haven’t played this album since I first bought the cassette version in the mid seventies, then the CD in the late eighties and finally as a download a few years back. I was absolutely flabbergasted to find how good it sounded! It plays really well with barely noticeable vinyl hiss and crackle between tracks, which doesn’t detract from the overall sound, which is still amazing. In short, it sounds like a new record! It lays flat on the turntable and plays well without the needle sticking or jumping.

Summary: this ICONIC, ESSENTIAL masterwork  album introduced the sound of Reggae to a worldwide audience. It is a lovely piece of genuine memorabilia from a bygone time that changed the world and would grace any collection. If you haven’t heard it on vinyl this could be for you. It certainly doesn’t sound 44years old. I’m not a dealer of any sort, but am just downsizing and having to clear things out and trying to survive on a poxy pension. I’m starting it at a sensible price so a genuine fan or collector can enjoy it without paying rip off prices Good luck with your bidding and feel free to ask any question.

I use 12" Vinyl LP Record postal mailers and protect them with an additional layer of bubblewrap. In the UK I use Royal Mail Signed For.
