Description

This is a rare opportunity to own the ultra rare and much sought after The Way We Live - A Candle for Judith, original pressing in gatefold sleeve.

I will try to list the condition as accurately as possible. It is far from mint, and although I am not a record dealer, I would probably grade this as good condition.

Side a plays fine bit with pops and crackles, which are not too detrimental during the tracks, but more noticeable in-between tracks. There is what looks like a small 'burn' on the last track. It still plays fine at this point although there is an audible 'bump' as the stylus goes over it, but not too off putting. There is a long very light scratch that goes right across all tracks.

There are surface scratches and marks but nothing too deep.

It does not jump at all.

Side b plays fine and although still has crackles, it is much better that said a. The surface noise is very low and only really noticable at high volume.

I have tried to show the condition in the photos and I feel that maybe I have described it to sound worse than what it actually is.

The gatefold sleeve is in pretty good condition. There are a few folds that are not severe. A small burn mark (see pic)

There is a price sticker in the top right hand corner which I have note attempted to remove. There is general wear around the spines but there is no crushing. The gatefold side has come unstuck  but it is not detrimental. It has the original plain inner sleeve which has browning but in good condition.

All in all, it its certainly not too bad and still a very worthy purchase of what is an incredibly rare record and one that doesn't come up for sale often.

Please do feel free to ask any questions because this vinyl will be sold as seen and it is priced to sell. No refunds!

Happy Bidding.

1971 UK original vinyl LP in gatefold sleeve on John Peel's Dandelion record label.

This Dave Thompson's review from Allmusic:

The first time Dandelion label head John Peel heard the Way We Live, courtesy of a demo tape they mailed him, he thought someone was playing a trick on him -- some accomplished superstar band, perhaps. Only when he actually met the duo did he discover that they really were as good as their demo insisted, and A Candle for Judith -- itself comprising exactly the same songs as that original tape -- allows the listener to share in Peel's amazement. Eight tracks find the band drifting across the musical spectrum, sometimes heavy (the opening "King Dick II" sounds almost Sabbath-like), sometimes folky, but never less than fascinating. Comparisons to Pink Floyd, one of the few bands to exercise similar disparate energies over the course of one album, are misleading, however. Although the closing "The Way Ahead" could be allied with certain passages in "Echoes," there is no space rock, or distorted blues in sight here, just a series of ambitiously complex and supremely melodic numbers that marked the Way We Live (the name under which the LP was originally issued) as one of the most remarkable bands of the early-'70s era.
